Words will never be able to describe the feeling of comfort and security when you are wrapped up in your parents bed.
Mr. Luke Warm
So why was I surprised when he broke into my heart? I called 911, but I was cardiac-arrested for aiding and abetting, ’cause it was me who let him in, claiming we were “just friends.”
I will no longer date, socialize or communicate with carbon copies of you to appease my boredom or to quench my thirsty desire I have for attention and short-lived compliments from ‘sorta kindas.’
You know, he ‘sorta kinda’ right, but ‘sorta kinda’ wrong? His first name: Luke, his last name: Warm.
My assessment of people
If everyone’s appearance was blank, what would they have to offer the world?
I GIVE A FUCK!
That’s when it hit me: I’m living in the generation that is transitioning between the extended rural family and the modern nuclear family. And then that’s when it hit YOU: what the hell am I talking about? To briefly define the two terms, the characteristics of an extended rural family are three generations or more under one roof. The modern nuclear family is where two generations living under one roof. There’s a lot more details that supplements my weak description but I’ll leave it to you to discover and read more about it.
This applies to my family and maybe it applies to yours too. During the time that I was born, my parents, my aunts and uncles, my brother and my sister were living in the exact description of what an extended rural family is. Imagine 3 different families – adults, teenagers and children – all living (squished) into one tiny apartment. My parents came to Canada as refugees. They came witheverything that they had so that means that besides bringing the one or two sets of outfits they had, they brought all of their values, customs and beliefs.
Can you say TRADITIONAL?
Of course you can because we are privileged enough to go to school and get an education. However, some people truly do not understand HOW privileged we are. I think that it’s hard for a lot of us since life is good and has always been good. But if you take the time to reflect on the past, then you won’t truly appreciate what you really have. I heard that “getting the wind knocked out of you will remind you how much you like the taste of air.” But do we really want to get to the point where we only begin to appreciate life when we truly have nothing to lose.
We are so fortunate and lucky but we forget and as a result, we take advantage of what we have. We are living in a society where things are moving at an unprecedented rate and we’re just trying to catch up. Everyone is so busy pretending that they are busy. Even I am guilty of being caught in the whirlwind of being supercalifragilisticexpialidocious (see? too fast).
SO STOP RIGHT THERE (THANK YOU VERY MUCH), I just wanted to remind to everyone to step back and realize how great we all have it. We don’t have limitations as our parents used to and the opportunities are endless. Be grateful that you aren’t living to fight to survive and doing things like searching for food to provide for your family or dropping in and out of school because there was a war that had to be fought. We’re in living in a new generation and until we realize how lucky we are, then we can finally work on ourselves and making the world a better place. There are STILL people who aren’t able to experience schooling and are living under the definition of the extended rural family.
This could be the main source of disconnection between parents and their children in which our parent’s beliefs and values conflict with ours. It’s important that we don’t become disconnected from our parents but instead, teach them and let them teach you. Be fucking grateful and don’t take advantage of everything that has been given to you. In this generation, most of us have the advantage and the ability to do a lot of great things and we let it go to waste. Don’t waste your time on unnecessary shit and actually use your abilities to promote something good. For all of those people who don’t “give a fuck”, it seems like I have inherited enough fucks from the entire generation and guess what? I GIVE A FUCK.
FUCK I LOOK LIKE?
THINK LIKE A WOMAN. THINK LIKE YOURSELF.
Given my personal and recent experiences, I can definitely say that I’m growing as a person to know what I want and especially who I want. A combination of reading, listening and mere observation has left me to conclude that we are still living in a man’s world. I’ve been given some variable advice about men boys for a good portion of my life. Some advice I’ve gotten are basically summed into a shit load of excuses. Maybe he was doing this, maybe he’s with he’s working or with his friends, maybe he hasn’t texted me for two weeks because he lost his phone, the last girl was so crazy.*rolling my eyes* Those are all acceptable excuses but it all boils down to if a guy is interested in being with you, they will make the effort. Don’t be mistaken, this is not limited to men but some girls do this too. Thus, we have this cycle of absolute chaos where nobody understands anybody and as a result, this is the type of behaviour that leaves both men and women confused. Basically, make sure you know what YOU want and make sure you know what the OTHER PERSON wants before anything continues to develop.
We are hard wired to see everything from the perspective of the man. This is a message to all the ladies out there: stop “thinking like a man” and start THINKING LIKE A WOMAN. We are all so used to thinking like a man and searching for answers through a man’s perspective. It’s rooted into our natural instincts that we rarely consciously think about it. Well, knock knock, it’s your brain here so start utilizing it and thinking for yourself, not others. Too many people are focused on what other people are thinking. This is seen especially in relationships when far too many women are focusing on what their man is thinking. Women (and I’ve been guilty of this before too) have molded themselves based on the behaviour of their man.
We need to be our own person, hold our own values, dreams and aspirations. If someone cannot appreciate that for how you are and more importantly, if you cannot appreciate that on your own then your attitude will always be dependent on someone else’s behaviour. I especially cannot stand when I am told that “I shouldn’t behave or say something in a certain manner because they will be intimidated and run away.” Nothing raises more of a red flag than men who runs away from women who are confident and talk openly. This is a prime example of how we basing our behaviours based on how a man will react. For men who are doing this instinctively or not, you have a brain so if someone is being honest with you then take the time to recognize the situation instead of ignoring the problem.
We’ve become so busy thinking of how others want to see us that we forget how to be our genuine selves. Do whatever you want, when you want and how you want it. Hold your own and walk away from a situation if you’re not completely happy or satisfied. Whether you are stuck in a bad relationship or even a relationship that isn’t satisfying enough to your needs and you know that you deserve better then do something about it. The worst thing that a person can do to themselves is settling for anything less than what they deserve.
Work on creating and establishing yourself in YOUR perspective and that is when you will find the most authentic happiness.
