Update 3!!!

The work has began... I’m thinking this project is gonna need around 40-50 hours... without dealing with any cosmetic stuff... some cooling hoses had been removed but others are still to come out...  Photos and videos to come soon... (I hate editing)  L.Leon

Chronicles of AutoX

To begin with... Lets throw some specs about me and my car...

Name: TheBSChronicles Profession: Automotive Technician (BMW TECH) Car: BMW E46 330i  Mods: Megan EZ racing Coilovers Fender Rolled to fit 255/40ZR17 ET43 8.5X120

So, it began as a club thing with some friends in the DFW area, as a way to play with our cars. Being a “car guy” you always want to find a way to take your vehicle to their limit, a lot of people decide to go for Drag racing. I believe that drag racing require some skills but at the same time you only learn how to drive your car on a straight line under a heavy acceleration, its good if you really like to go in a straight line... but for me it wasn’t enough I wanted to be able to handle my car on a more track based set up... (being track days are normally off the record expensive + and that’s not even trying to be a member of a race track or stuff like that...) for a beginner doing something like this is really out of reach... (unless you have a gold pot sitting in your garage) so I decided to go for the cheap affordable starting point, Solo racing/AutoX because smaller groups tend to run this (In my case BMW CCA Lone Star Chapter) turning out to be a great fun learning experience of what to expect and so... 

I took the challenge of going for it, whats the worse thing it could happen right? I blow up my engine and have to total the car or rebuild and engine... that’s not really a problem, the fun to danger ratio for this was not a big deal.

Now the fun parts... Taking your car finding it’s limits and just pushing yourself to the limit is the most amazing feeling ever. It makes all the time waiting for the events to come up worth it.  The hardest part is keeping your car at peak condition because during the events you push your car to its limits, and because Murphy’s law everything will go wrong... and when it doesn’t something still does... the wear and damage done to the car is way stronger than the daily driver wear and tear, but fun. I’ve gone from easy things like some rubber bushings to having a coolant hose come undone while doing a lap. Everything could happen. you just have to be ready for it and be willing to take care of it so you don’t waste a day.

I’ll wrap this up because I’ve been a little bit all over the place.

Next AutoX event for me is gonna be this Sat July 18 and should be fun, Got some work that needs to get done on my car before it’s track ready again. TheBSChronicles

So... the more i do this the less stuff I have to talk about... I kinda wanna go and start upgrading my car... but I need to start with suspension and then all the following things... the problem is that suspension upgrade its gonna turn out to be a tricky thing... and I might need another car so i can do stuff, or get a 2 door for a toy car...

Updates

So lately I been spending so much time at class and work that I feel like my normal life is being compromised... I wish I had more time. Work related update... The other guy that does my job during the mornings just kinda quit/ got fired, so now I gotta work all Saturdays until they find someone new. Good thing from this is that I will get more hours. Hope I could jump into the shop more and start getting my hands dirty. Guess I gotta start getting my ASE test going. Now life update... My car is getting some love and getting patched up trying to go back to perfect state gotta take care of a few leaks still and hopefully nothing else will quit while I get this fixed... (power steering pump)... Headlights are finally on and photo coming up in a few minutes. Now lets be done now... Luislp TheBSchronicles

Woohoo

So today was an interesting day... Lil boring long but still surprisingly interesting. Lets begin with the morning school... Yaaay nothing really good happens there other than endless hours staring at a whiteboard and trying to stay awake through lecture, but still got to see some random things related to fuel... And that stuff.. Yaaay... Midday and evening... Still at work now, all day its been really slow or with random rush hours but nothing its cold out that makes it really interesting cause I get to wear my big jacket... The only bad thing is that it gets really hot while indoors... I guess there is no perfect outfit for this weather... Other random things... I was able to get the exchange of my headlights rolling waiting on confirmation of the shipping order and now I really can't wait to put them on... The projector cutline and halos are gonna look so fucking badass when they are on... Will see how that goes in the next few days... The only thing is that I wont be able to do it this weekend as planned will have to delay it a few more day... Got all the tools ready to do so...
