My mom and I have been debating the parties in Alberta for a while. Her main stance for why ndp shouldn't get in is roughly "Look how badly ndp fucked up Saskatchewan". Do you think there is any vaildity to this, and where I might get some more info?

I’m not sure of their history in Saskatchewan. There is some information here on Wikipedia, though.

Any Saskatchewan followers opinions on that argument?

Have you found the tan panel skirt Lydia wore in S1 sometime? It was in one of the screencaps for the messenger bag you posted earlier.
