“ You don’t have to hide -- there isn’t much point, anyways. Come out. “

The house was quiet that day. Mother was out, and father had stayed at the police department to finish reports he hadn’t found time to deal with during the day. It left Sasuke alone in the big house---not that he minded. Some peace and quiet were appreciated since he too had been busy.
He removed his headband before rubbing his eyes. He now understood why father had seldom been home, why even now he spent more time at work than anywhere else. Konoha may be one of the safer villages to live in, but that didn’t mean no crimes were committed.
Upon entering the kitchen, Sasuke found that his mother had prepared onigiri, plenty for both Sasuke and his father, should the latter decide to come home after all. With a smile, Sasuke took some. He would make sure to thank her when she returned. She worked just as hard---if not harder---than the rest of the family, yet she never complained.
It was then that he heard the entrance door sliding open. Was mother back already? No, the footsteps belonged to someone else. Sasuke recognized them as his brother’s. Sasuke swallowed a mouthful of rice and placed down his plate. He made for the entrance hall.
“Welcome home, nii-san,” he greeted. “I didn’t expect you to be home so soon.”
"I didn’t do it." -@the-crowking
"Did what?"
