Seasonal Branding
A good campaign gets you noticed and extends your connection with your customer. So adding a fun and festive twist to your branding sounds like a great idea, but like all design and branding, theres a right way and a wrong way to do it.
Your logo is the face of your brand, so changing it too much could make you unrecognisable. Small additions and simple tweaks can be enough ‘Christmas branding’ without distracting from your original message. A great example is the Tesco Christmas logo, a paper cracker hat balanced on the ‘O’ brings fun and festivity to their everyday logo.
Your brand identity is likely to include some core colours, so you you’ll want to maintain these. Using festive colour palettes, but combining a core brand colour can help you stand out while remaining consistent with other branding material. Theres a lot of festive colour schemes out there, so make sure you pick the one thats right for you.
It’s a great time of year to get personal, and connect on a new level. Christmas is a time for goodwill and cheer, so make sure your copy and imagery shows this. Be careful not to sway from your core message, but sell your services using copy that encourages warm, festive thoughts. Using emotive language will make your customer feel good, and they’ll connect that emotion with your business.
Take John Lewis as an excellent example, this year using a loveable penguin, longing for love to advertise them for Christmas. No products, nothing about great service and speedy delivery, just a heart warming 60 seconds of what Christmas is really about.
A great graphic design team can create fun, festive branding without diluting your message so make sure they know your company inside out. Your branding needs to be consistent, it doesn't matter if your celebrating Christmas, Valentines day, Summer bank holiday, or if its everyday promotional material. Get your key brand elements clear from the start, and expand your idea from here.
Remember : you don't have to be obvious. Subtle additions, and minimal imagery can be just as powerful whilst remaining true to your brand.
