The Damage by Caitlin Wahrer was a 2021 Thrills & Chills pick from BOTM. This book is about what happens to a young man, a college student, who is the victim of a violent sexual assault. How his friends react - how his family reacts. And how the system treats him and his assailant. The assault was not graphic but the after effects were. Parts of this were extremely difficult to listen. This book is partly about how families take care of each other. The ending surprised me a little. I don’t normally mention triggers but I would definitely look at them before reading this. The audiobook is a little better to listen to after Part Two because of something that happens in the story. Nice audiobook performance from Soneela Nankani.
