/barges into ask box to cry about Merlin

YESSSS! Oh Merlin, my precious little grumpy bb! Okay, so starting off of your post

he definitely knows people in the Q division and there’s a bit of friendly rivalry amongst all of them (”we totally beat you all on creating *insert gadget thing here* but if you want to take a look at one, you can”)

I tend to think of Merlin as being grey-a, and kind of a little bi (probably like a 1 or a 2 on the Kinsey scale)

He keeps a loft near HQ that he basically uses like a hotel room, he comes back at night to sleep and occasionally he’ll have Harry or one of the others over for a drink or two, but that’s about it, and yes he definitely has his coat of arms hanging on the wall

There’s an equal love for tea and coffee. To quote Lock, Stock and Barrel “The entire British empire was built on cups of tea, and if you think I’m going to war without one, you’re very much mistaken” but sometimes (especially on early mornings or late nights) he needs something a bit stronger. Tea with cream, but coffee is black.

He’s one of those geniuses that just learns everything as soon as they start (”Have you ever done this before?” “No.” “Are you sure? Because that’s something most people take years to figure out.”)

He talks to his machines, kind of like rubber duck debugging. Usually he tries to make sure no one else is around

He and Harry both joined Kingsman around the same time, and they did become friends during that time, but there were (and still are) times when Harry’s all “IMMA DO THE THING!!” and Merlin’s just like “Oh my god Harry no. I always end up cleaning up your messes, you little shit.”

tbh about 75% of the time Merlin’s internal dialogue is just “the things I put up with for you losers I swear to god.”

When he does drink, Merlin is a cuddly drunk. He’s like a baby koala, it’s adorable

He’s everyone’s “I know I could call you at 2am when I’m having a crisis and you’d drop everything to help out except for you’re probably already on your way over here” friend

He most certainly did not cry at the end of Titanic…

He has like five of that same sweater probably

He’s one of the best in his field, and he knows it, but he doesn’t feel a need to make a big deal out of it. He’s turned down awards and stuff because he prefers to keep himself out of public spotlights (that’s part of why he joined Kingsman, was the anonymity) Some of the others think he’s a bit of an idiot for doing that, but they’re not ever going to tell him that

Don’t touch Merlin’s stuff. Like ever. Unless you want to die. Or worse.

I can’t stand it when people are too serious all the time. If they have no sense of humor, or they’re too judgemental. I’m not a very serious person a lot of the time, and if I’m around someone that just can’t laugh, it drives me insane

when Harry eventually dies (OF OLD AGE) that will make Eggsy around the same age as Harry when they met and when he does die Eggsy will 100% be so much less happy and will get reclusive and will never really recover from losing him to something they can't fight

Oh no. Oh nononononono my emotions. I’m very sad now that was not ok my poor baby Eggsy that would make him so unbelievably sad, because in a way it’s worse than Harry being killed by someone else, because that’s at least quick, even though it would still break his heart. But old age is slow and you can see the body getting weaker and Harry would hate it because that means he can’t do field work and protect Eggsy himself, and while the other Kingsman are perfectly capable of protecting each other, he wants to be out there, but eventually Harry just has to watch from the sidelines, and he worries that he’ll have a heart attack because of Eggsy’s recklessness. And then when Harry finally, eventually does die, Eggsy is heartbroken because Harry was the man that helped turn his life around, the one who gave him a chance when no one else would, the man that he fell in love with. And slowly, Eggsy stops going on missions, he can’t when he doesn’t have Harry watching his back. Maybe he tries being Arthur for a while, but it’s just not the same. He still has Roxy, and maybe Merlin has managed to stay alive (that snarky bastard), but without Harry, nothing is the same.Wow ok, I just made myself even more sad that was fun, now I’ll think of happy things.
