RANDOM QUOTE I SAW SOMEWHERE
“It eventually gets better, without any sort of explanation; you just wake up one morning and you’re not as upset anymore.”
The Future
I may have been very busy, and trust me, I really am. I’m already in my junior year of college. I’m still a BS Development Communication student and probably the only update I have about my college life is the fact that I joined a socio-civic organization last semester.
I’ve been meaning to write something for days or for months rather. Well, I always write for my course but I wanted to write something not academic in nature. So here is my attempt in blogging again.
The thing is the future is fast approaching. I am already 19 years old and in just a few months, I am going to be in my senior year of college. I still don’t know what I want to do after college. To be more realistic, I still don’t know what topic I’m going to research about for my thesis.
And as much as I am excited, I also feel scared. There are so many what ifs in my head. I am struggling to find out who I really am and what I really want to do.
But I guess, I will never really find out.
Who I am and what I want to do, will change. I am not an identity trapped in one dream and one feeling. I am a story that will never end. I am a fusion of opposing endless possibilities.
And actually, I’m okay with that.
Fancy Pastel
Update: I don’t blog as often and I guess I have to deal with that. I still love to dress up. And I’ve learned to embrace happiness.
2015
Over the year, there were so many times I wanted to share something in this platform. However, as the months go by, I’ve been feeling less and less of the need to.
This year was a total mix of contrasts. To put things into perspective, I’ve been actually living a life (beyond my cellphone and laptop screen). This year, I opened up my heart and I dared myself to let go once in a while. I was my happiest whenever I felt like I am just being myself-- nothing forced, nothing unnatural. There were also times I felt uninspired and that sadness was actually consuming me. I may have seem lost for quite some time but I always find my way back.
#HoneymoonTourManila
Around April this year, I started seeing advertisements that Ariana Grande’s going to have a concert here in Manila. Of course, I wanted to buy a ticket immediately but I still had to ask for my parents’ permission. Along the way, in the middle of my hopelessness and excitement, I was able to buy a ticket and was assured that I am going to see Ari live.
This happy list volume is long overdue and I’m glad to finally share one. So here’s the little and big things that make me happy lately...
1. Trips to the beach
2. Meeting new people
3. Spontaneous dates with different sets of friends
4. Movies and Cheetos Jalapeno
5. Reading until I fall asleep
6. Spending Saturdays at Starbucks with mommy
7. Emails from daddy
8. The fact that I’m a college junior (Yaaaasss! One year to go!)
9. My own Kate Spade bag ♠
10. Dresses and off-shoulder tops
I’ve been feeling happier than usual despite some dampers here and there. It actually feels great to see beyond the negative, I’m not yet a pro at it but I’m working on it.
For the past seven months, I was able to do some reading when life wasn’t so hectic. Though, it’s not much progress for my reading challenge this year. So I thought I’d list them with my favorite quote and why I like or did not like the book in bullets. These books are arranged according to date read and it’s actually quite random.
1. The Carrie Diaries by Candace Bushnell
2 out of 5 stars
It was okay, nothing really special about it for me.
I like the TV series better.
2. The Strange Library by Haruki Murakami
3 out of 5 stars
I am not a fan of its oddity.
The plot isn't really compelling and this is not the first book you should read if you haven't read Murakami.
Good note: I appreciate the packaging and illustrations.
3. There’s No Place Like Here by Cecelia Ahern
3 out of 5 stars
Love, Rosie is still my favorite book from Ahern.
In my opinion, the plot was kind of random.
4. What I Talk About When I Talk About Running by Haruki Murakami
4 out of 5 stars
I like the comparison between running and writing.
It would inspire you to go after whatever it is you want in life.
5. P.S. I Still Love You by Jenny Han
4 out of 5 stars
I like it better than the first book (To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before).
The story may be so high school but it was very relatable!
A good breather from all the classics and general fiction
6. The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
4 out of 5 stars
Good writing and beautiful descriptions
Some parts were confusing because of the two different point of views.
7. The Elephant Vanishes by Haruki Murakami
3 out of 5 stars
Some of the short stories were great reads. My favorite shorty story would have to be On Seeing The 100% Perfect Girl One Beautiful April Morning.
I like this collection of short stories but I prefer his novels.
8. Extraordinary Means by Robyn Schneider
5 out of 5 stars
Just when I thought I am done with novels about star crossed lovers suffering a certain ailment, this one came and I actually like it.
I love how Robyn Schneider writes! How does she even do that?
But if I were to choose between her novels, I am still a bigger fan of The Beginning of Everything.
9. Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella
3 out of 5 stars
This is my first time reading a novel by Sophie Kinsella and I ended up liking it.
It was a fast-paced novel with light-hearted humor and realism.
Well, that’s about it. There could have been other books in this list but I ended up ditching some books because I find the plot dragging. And then there were times that I just couldn’t read a certain book anymore because I don’t like the author’s writing style.
Right now, I have about three to four books that I am currently reading. Hopefully, I won’t be cramming them in a list with quotes but I kind of like how this post turned out.
