The Turkish editions of #TheEndGames arrived this weekend, complete with a @johngreenwritesbooks blurb! I can’t tell you how excited and happy I was: I’ve been waiting for them since signing the foreign rights contract in 2013, and I still find it amazing that someone translated what I wrote into another language. Apparently the book is selling well in Turkey, which is gratifying. But more than that, it means so much to me that readers are still discovering this book, which I finished half a decade ago and which is really just an action-driven love letter to brotherhood, and to my little brother @patrick.martin94 in particular. Getting these books also meant the world to me for one last reason. There’s this feeling, this surreal and joyful feeling as an author, when you open the first box of your books. After a trio of deeply discouraging publishing setbacks, I realized I no longer felt any joy while writing. I haven’t written a word since a book contract was cancelled in the spring. And I’ve found these last few months that I don’t feel any urge at all anymore to write another novel. So this may have been (except for the Turkish editions of MR. FAHRENHEIT) the last time I ever open a new box of my books. Maybe I’ll write another novel. Maybe I won’t. If I had to bet, I’d say I probably won’t. But I wrote this one, and despite its flaws I love it, and I’m so grateful to know that halfway around the world, more people are loving it, too.
