From @thinkspace_art : “We’re proud to share that our family of creatives are coming together for a very special group show, that will help shine a light on topics currently at the forefront of everyone’s thoughts. Mother Earth: We Are All One will bring together 63 artists, all of whom have been asked to work within the same space confines of 12×12 inches (30×30 cm) and to take into consideration the general state of our Mother Earth and how much we have scarred her for our own gain and how many species of animals have gone extinct due to our constant advancement and taking over of lands near and far. We’ve asked them all to also consider how the current pandemic has so clearly illustrated that we are all in this together, and when we work together as one, anything is possible. To single out any one person due to their race, religion or sexual orientation is an archaic way of thinking that needs to be abolished. Fundamentalist extremism has been rearing its ugly head all around the world over the last couple years, and it needs to be stopped. A portion of the proceeds from this special exhibition will be donated to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund to help fight systemic racism. Throwback Thursday to this skate painting, “Treeplantor the giant robot” from 2003. If you’ve watched my documentary on YouTube, you know that my 3 seasons working as a treeplanter in the North of Canada changed me and my life in a positive way! That was a super hard and humbling job, but I learned so much about my soul self and what planet earth really is about. Nature taught me about the spirituality past cultural religion and it became the begging to the healing of my self-destructive path. I initially took that job to get away from my depressive drunken life, but fell in love with nature and wanted to protect it after that. Once I went back to college I joined the environmental club and eventually I became the president of it. Yes, I was that annoying hippie who’d show up to your class to preach about climate change and what you had to do to stop it, haha. These days I am not much of a traditional activist, my art mission has me occupied, but I try to live an ethical life as much as I can (no, I’m not perfect). And hope that what I do with my art also helps the planet in one way or other, even if I don’t touch an environmental subject matter too often. I feel that my art could help attract people to a positive spiritual path, so that might help create more people that respect the environment too. Environmental Consciousness

We must consciously think about our planet and the ‘universe’ as we go about our daily lives, think about global warming and how we’re contributing to problems. We must do more.

We must consciously think about things as we’re doing things. Do you remember to switch your outside house light off when you go to bed? Do you really need to put the washing machine on for one wash, or can you wait to wash that one item? Can it be washed by hand?

I remember as a child mum having to remind me to turn the light off when leaving a room. It was a mental block, more than a bug-bear, she never explained, and I didn’t know why. Not something I remembered to do, but something I do now.

We must be more environmentally friendly, in the same token. We must use less paper and recycle more, make sure we’re using the right light bulbs, choose cloth over paper, use canvas bags instead of using plastic, eat less meat, use a compost bin for any food waste, reduce water waste, live a greener life, and if you can do without one more luxury, do without.

These are questions we never think about, but they affect us all and our planet. They are questions that we need to think about now, or they will affect our children and their children’s future. Be more selfless, less selfish.
