I was silenced for loving my current body. To be told you’re not allowed to love a body deemed socially unacceptable remains inaccurate. I was silenced for exposing excessive skin; not because it’s illegal, because exposure of fat bodies are socially unacceptable. I was silenced for discussing black pain. As a black body, you role is to support and care for others. Expressing any form of oppression, discrimination, mental health issues, pain, joy, prosperity or any emotion (of any kind) is socially unacceptable. As a black body, the pressure to keep me silent outweighs speaking the truth - therefore I don’t matter. I was forced to use chemicals to straighten my hair. Having kinky textured hair remains socially unacceptable, even illegal. The logic that all bodies are different can never be used as a counterpoint because our society rather have copies than a mixture. Our society fears change and originality and so, I remain the one you want to silence. I give you caution to the norm, I make you think. I provide you with the ability to have doubt. At what point do you start thinking for yourself? #thefatnarrative #unbotheredfatty #lovethyself365
