To my future children, I want you to enjoy and treasure every single moment of your youth. Smell every flower you pass by, sing to every song on the radio, and laugh your loud obnoxious laugh that catches everyone’s attention. Enjoy your youth because before you know it, you’ll be wishing for it to come back. I want you to stay true to yourselves. Protect your heart of gold and don’t be afraid to cry. Don’t believe them when they tell your tears make you weak. Au contraire, your tears make you stronger. Don’t let the world make you cold. I want you to know it’s okay to make mistakes as long as you learn them. I don’t want you to be perfect because, well, where’s the fun in that? I want you to grow and become the tallest, sturdiest trees in all of the forest. Go explore. Get lost. Wander too far from the path. But if ever you stray too far or the world becomes too dark, look inside your heart and you’ll find me there. I’ll guide you home.
