Unlimited Ribs and Burgers at The Fireplace in New World Manila Bay

New World Manila Bay will be making our weekends more exciting as it launches two new unlimited meaty offerings at its signature steakhouse, The Fireplace. If you love baby back ribs and big burgers, coupled with overflowing wines and beers, then set aside your Sundays and Mondays because you have two more reasons to visit this five-star hotel and satisfy your carnivorous cravings.

Located on the hotel’s fifth level, The Fireplace is one of the most prestigious restaurants in Manila with its dark wooden interiors and sophisticated ambiance that resonates throughout its exquisite dining space. I last dined at The Fireplace a few months ago to sample their new menu (read about it here). Now, I’m back again to try this new unlimited promotion that will surely keep everyone’s appetites burning.

The Fireplace continues to be recognized as one of the best in Manila, most recently by Philippine Tatler which included The Fireplace in their 2017 Best Restaurants list. This is a place where you bring your most distinguished guests and clients, or your favorite date who you really want to impress.

To start our fabulous dining experience, we had a few appetizers from their menu like The Fireplace's Caesar Salad (P650). This big plate comes with a huge piece of crisp pancetta and generous servings of romaine lettuce with parmesan tuile. 

I love their Baked Oysters Rockefeller (P990) with its big oysters served on the half-shell topped with lots and lots of gooey melted cheese. Eat these babies while they are still hot and fresh from the oven.

We also had the Hot Smoked Salmon (P750) with its tender salmon fillet combined with squid ink mayonnaise and grilled calamari on the plate. This entree will have everyone ready for the main courses that are to follow.

The Fireplace is offering its Unlimited Baby Back Ribs and Wine promotion every Sunday evening. For P2500 per person, guests can have all the sumptuous baby back ribs that they want from 6:30pm to 11:00pm, paired with free-flowing glasses of red wine.

These juicy and mouthwatering ribs come topped with a sweet and smoky barbecue sauce plus a side of coleslaw. I’m sure I can eat a lot of servings of these ribs, but what makes it more special is that you can also have unlimited glasses of red wine. The night will truly be livelier once everyone starts eating and drinking to their heart’s content.

We all love the weekend but dread whenever Monday comes along. The Fireplace gives us a reason to cheer up on Mondays with their Unlimited Burgers and Beers promotion. For only P1700 per person, guests can have as many servings of The Fireplace’s signature burgers which come topped with two fried quail eggs.

The juicy hamburger patties are so thick and is packed with lots of meaty and beefy goodness. The set also comes with hand cut potato fries plus a medley of dipping sauces. You have a choice of beers which include San Miguel Pale Pilsen, San Mig Light, and the more interesting Kalinga Kolsch, a new hand-crafted beer brewed in Santa Rosa, Laguna. If you can’t decide, then order all three because you can have as many glasses as you want.

But this doesn’t mean that you can’t go to The Fireplace on the other days of the week. The restaurant is still best known for its award-winning steaks like the Snake River Farms Hanging Tender (P2220-10 oz.) This premium steak is unbelievably tender and deserves its own day of the week to visit.

But my favorite at The Fireplace is their Stockyard Wagyu Ribeye (P3500-10 oz.) This meaty steak is full of flavor but is extremely melt-in-your-mouth tender. It’s definitely one of the best steaks you can have in the city and I highly recommend getting this when you want to impress your date. 

For desserts, you can try their Strawberry Tart which comes with a big scoop of Vanilla ice cream on top. 

Or have the colorful Green Tea Cheesecake with mangoes and mango ice cream. I prefer having the Molten Chocolate Lava Cake myself, with its oozing hot chocolate lava and strawberry compote.

Evenings at New World Manila Bay are definitely gonna get hotter with these great promotions that will satisfy even big eaters like me. Surely, no one will be going home hungry or thirsty after this. It doesn’t matter what day of the week you visit, there will always be something at The Fireplace to make your dinner experience memorable and enchanting.

The Fireplace in New World Manila Bay Sizzles with New Menu

Metro Manila is teeming with so many new restaurants and dining establishments that we are almost spoiled with options. However, if you are looking for classy, sophisticated and elegant places for those intimate dates or celebrations, then the list significantly narrows. I have had my share of memorable dates and anniversary dinners in the metro, but there is one hotel steak restaurant that I have yet to experience because I thought that its extremely high price points can only be reserved for once-a-year events. That is about to change.

The Fireplace at New World Manila Bay Hotel is changing for the better as it just launched a new friendlier menu that will turn it from a once-a-year to a once-a-month destination. The Hungry Kat was invited a few weeks ago to sample the premium dishes and steaks on their new menu, so how could I say no to visiting this very charming and romantic restaurant that simply oozes with character? Of course, the steaks might also have something to do with it.

The Fireplace is the signature steakhouse of the five-star New World Manila Bay Hotel, formerly known as the Hyatt Regency Hotel and Casino. The upscale restaurant is located at the hotel’s fifth floor, just beside its other signature restaurant, Li Li Chinese Restaurant which I visited a few months ago and is just as elegant. There is a certain charm that you will notice once you enter The Fireplace with its dark wooden interiors and a dimly-lit ambiance that resonates throughout its exquisite dining space.

If you are planning to bring a date, take your seats on the couch chairs by the side that gives a bit more privacy for those romantic conversations. Your girl will truly feel how important she is when you bring her here for an anniversary dinner or even just a surprise no-occasion date to express how much you really care.

Executive Chef James Williams has created a more accessible menu that diners and foodies can appreciate without having to break the bank. The new culinary offers are made even better by combining the best of both worlds - the freshest local produce from Filipino farmers and the most delectable imported ingredients.

At the heart of The Fireplace is the traditional wood-fired Beech Oven which uses ipil-ipil wood to impart a special flavor for its creations. The impressive oven also lends its own personality to the restaurant and stands as a centerpiece showcasing its fiery flames to all its guests.

The Fireplace comes with an extensive selection of wines and beverages to accompany your steak and seafood adventure. Open a bottle of champagne or red wine if you want to impress your date even further.

We were introduced to the Kalamancello - a calamansi cocktail made only in the Philippines with tuba or coconut wine. This cool and refreshing cocktail was quite sweet and impressive so my friend Edgar from Pinas Muna and I just had to give it our “Fierce” pose for the cameras.

The Fireplace also supports our local beer industry by promoting homegrown brands including Pedro Craft Beer and other lesser known but high-quality names. The restaurant is currently open only for dinner from 6:00pm to 11:00pm daily but may soon offer a lunch service as well.

We started with a couple of complimentary appetizers like the Tuna Ceviche and these Brioche buns with porchini mushrooms and grisini or breadsticks with squid ink. What made this special is that small candle holder which is actually filled with bacon fat and acts as a dip! The brioche itself is already a tasty appetizer but dip it in the bacon fat and it becomes so good.

A couple of soups were presented like the Lobster Bisque (P450) which is infused with cognac and served with salt cod brandade beignet. The salty lobster bisque can get your palate started with its pronounced flavors.

Better yet, go for the Cream of Corn (P450) soup which is has a creamy broth and is served with uni, chicken skin and basil oil inside the cup. The uni gives it an added depth of flavors and this is one corn soup you will not be getting at home.

Salad lovers can try the Tomato and Burrata Salad (P680) which is a local heirloom tomato salad that comes with handmade burrata, a fresh Italian cheese made from Mozzarella and cream. It also goes well with the cold and sour balsamic sherbet and is topped with basil.

One of their specialty dishes is The Fireplace's Signature Beef Tartare (P800) which is raw beef that comes with smoked garlic aioli and confit egg yolk. I haven’t delevoped a taste for raw beef just yet, but those who like beef tartare would definitely enjoy this.

The very dark Ifugao Rice (P795) is a sticky puffed black rice that comes topped with octopus and calamari. The rice is a bit creamy itself which gives it an interesting texture.

Now let’s get to the other more exciting main dishes. The beautiful Hot Smoked Salmon (P520) is a tender and yummy seafood item that comes with squid ink mayonnaise and grilled calamari. All the seafood at The Fireplace is procured from sustainable sources where possible and the hotel also adheres to sustainable fishing practices.

The Confit Pork Belly (P950) is a sumptuous pork belly that comes with seared scallop, lemon curd and baby herbs. This is just a sampling portion but I loved the crispy pork skin plus the soft and juicy scallops.

Something healthier would be the Spring Chicken (P600) served on top of creamed corn and baby carrots. This portion should be good enough for those watching their diet, but I have other heavier plans for tonight.

The Fireplace’s Signature Burger (P850) is one item all burger lovers will be deligthed to have as the beef patty comes stuffed with foie gras! You really cannot get more indulgent than that. The burger also comes with onion jam, truffle mayonnaise, plus two fried quail eggs on top and is served with hand cut parmesan fries and condiments. This is the ultimate burger fantasy.

Another interesting dish is the Beef Cheeks (P680) marinated in Asian spices and served with pumpkin puree, bok choi and chili jam. The beef cheeks are so tender that you only need a fork to finish this plate.

Now we come to the main event, The Fireplace’s signature steaks! Let’s start with the 400 grams Wagyu Ribeye (P2980) which is really as tasty as it looks. All steaks at The Fireplace come topped with cafe de Paris butter and shaved foie gras then served with a little piece of bone marrow to complete the luxuy experience. I couldnlt get enough of this tender and beefy ribeye steak.

If you can’t decide on which steak to get, then go for their Tasting Plate (P3500) which has a combination of three of their favorite steaks including the Wagyu Ribeye, Hanging Tender and Flat Iron Steak. I still couldn’t decide which steak I wanted more so I just had them all!

You can also turn your steak order into a Surf and Turf dish by adding some seafood to your plate. I recommend adding the Baby Lobsters (+P380) which will really make it an unbelievable steak and lobster combination, or just add grilled Prawns (+P350) if you wish.

But the biggest and best steak for the night is none other than this giant 1.2-kilogram Tomahawk Steak (P5500). It is so big that it occupies the entire table and you will really need some help if you are going to finish this monster. It’s probably not what you should order on a date, but get this for family gatherings and everyone will be happy.

This steak actually has a marble score of 5* which shows you how tender and fatty it is despite its size. It also comes topped with butter and foie gras and I really loved every slice after the chef cut it into smaller serving portions.

A fitting end to a romantic date would be some sweet and yummy desserts. The Vanilla Panna Cotta (P370) is a colorful dessert with macerated fruits surrounding a soft and light panna cotta.

This White Chocolate, Meringue, Strawberry (P370) looks like it should be hanging in a museum with its eye-catching design but you can find it at The Fireplace. I also recommend the sweet Passionfruit Brulee (P370) with chocolate and shortbread.

But if you want something creative, order the Lemon Candy with Calamansi (P370) that comes with yuzu and thyme sponge cake. The lemon is actually a candy shell that breaks apart when you crack it. Combine this sour lemony sauce with the cake and you have another winner.

The Fireplace continues its proud reputation of excellent service and outstanding steaks which it has been known for since 2005. With its new menu, diners can now look forward to spending more time at this high-end fine dining restaurant and appreciate their delectable meat and seafood selections. I am already planning a return visit to The Fireplace soon, hopefully my date get the hint ;)
