The eye of the storm. My last days.
How many books do you usually read at a time? Only one? Two, three or even more? I usually read only one book at a time (every day). Nowadays, I don't have as much time to read as I would like (full-time jobs are like that 🤷🏼♂️), so when I sit down to read, I want to focus on a story with a set of characters.
'When you try to relax by reading but in order to focus on reading you must be relaxed ... The Flight of Lost Souls scares me. Lol! @jaimecaiape thank you for this book.'
I believe that a form of happiness is reading.
The book is a master who speaks but does not respond. 'Plato'
The Flight of Lost Souls
They raised their face shields in an attempt to curb the overpowering smell of the rancid air. Finally, the last flight of stairs led them to a dark, damp floor. The lanterns did not provide enough light to reveal the breadth of the room, and all the torches that should have been attached to the walls had mysteriously been removed. The small windows must have been somewhere, but somehow, they were covered. There was an unusual appreciation for the darkness. Next, Sir István lifted the metal bracket lightly causing the flame of the oil to stop dancing, so that the flickering shadows would cease to come to life and the eyes would no longer be deceived. By the architecture, they knew the structure was some kind of dungeon that gradually revealed itself. Through their brilliant conclusion, they managed to memorize the general appearance of the vicinity; a surprisingly vast area where thick columns were a necessity to support the complex. The walls to the right and the left consisted of dozens of doors with bars much like a prison, though some of them were locked and featured only a wicket. Here and there, the remnants of food and the remains of small rodents were scattered on the floor, revealing the echoes of a ferocious predator who was not quite sure of his preferred diet. Again, raising the lantern, Sir István, accompanied by Richard and Jack, went to inspect a pair of doors near the first row of columns. The awful smell again pierced the nostrils with increasing force as they approached the cells. Richard tried to open one of the doors forcing it with his hands, hoping it was simply stuck to the doorpost. Locked! He pushed the wicket open and raised the lantern so he could see inside. The light was uncovering the veil of darkness, and he could see that inside the cell, laid several bodies.

Anno Domini, 1293. Sir Robert Lonwer and a group of knights voyage through a phantasmagoric snowstorm, which takes them to a monastery in the heart of an isolated forest. Soon after they discover that it has been mysteriously abandoned, they are drawn into a world of shadows, dreams, and terror, in which the return of voices from the dead prophesy about the key to the future.
The Flight of Lost Souls is a seductive and moving piece. The narrative is electrifying, written in a poetic and ironic prose, that keeps the reader in a constant state of suspense. A tribute to the great classic horror novels.
