Aleksi bit his lip, looking at the clock on his phone.
It was much, much too late to be calling surely, why was he even considering it?
However much he had been missing the other man, it wasn't an excuse to call him so late at night.
After all, who cared if he happened to know that Olli was still up, because he should have just gotten off a late shift at the hospital?
What did it matter that he had been missing him all day? That the barista that morning had a small gap in her teeth, making him think solely of Olli's smile, or that he had walked Rilla and overheard a young couple talking as they walked and how their laughter paled in comparison to his sweet laugh, the couple's conversation shallow compared to heir late night conversations on tour buses or in hotel rooms in strange cities.
Even Rilla seemed to know, seeming to look through the apartment for someone that wasn't there.
He couldn't take it anymore, Aleksi grabbed his phone and called Olli, even if it was a two minute chiding over calling so late it would be worth it to hear his voice.
It was answered on the third ring.
“Hello?”
“Hei,” Aleksi said, “I'm surprised that you picked up, being so late.”
“…The only reason why I did pick up was because it’s you.” Olli yawned, “Why are you still awake Ale?”
“Couldn't sleep,” Aleksi said.
“Really?” Olli hummed, “well, it's too bad I'm not there, isn't it? You always slept so well in my arms.”
“Yeah,”Aleksi swallowed against the sudden lump in his throat, “I miss you.”
“I miss you too,” Olli told him quietly, “my transfer is almost here, then I'll be able to be there every night.”
“I can't wait,” Aleksi sighed as he turned off his bedside lamp and laid back in bed, “it'll be so nice to have you here all the time, I'm going crazy here by myself.”
“I know, I promise it's soon.” Olli said, “and I'll visit this weekend.”
“I know,” Aleksi yawned, his eyes were getting heavier by the second, lulled by Olli's voice.
“Go to sleep love,” Olli laughed, “dream of me, we'll see each other soon.”
“I love you,” Aleksi told him, his eyes were already shut.
“I love you too, Ale. So much.”
Aleksi fell asleep as soon as he heard those words from his boyfriend.
