Oh, if we're talking about MMOs, I gotta suggest guild wars 2. The trial on that got replaced with the ability to just play the base game content for free, with restrictions on things like the trading Post and some community/guild features, as well as level restrictions on some features. It lets you see how well you would like the game without throwing a painfully low level cap on it.

I actually own the game, hah.
