A mini guide to anyone interested in my zines and their short stories-
Little Witchy Things: “To Seek A Witch” features a writer visiting her hometown to investigate a rumor.
Monstrous: “Firebird” is a prose poem about visiting on old almost-friend with a djinn-like quality.
Betwixt Between: “The Shop” introduces a day-in-the-life of career witch Melissa.
Of Dreams and Nightblooming Things: “Storyteller” has college student, faerie-cursed Jen and her girlfriend Izzy dealing with books and her strange grandfather.
Deep Dark Woods: “Sophia The Bard” has Jacob recounting his centuries-long friendship with Sophia and the trolls they reside with.
Hidden: “Calling” has European-transplanted twins Sam and Sarah, a trans sculptor and clockmaker, given a unique offer (features a character from “Storyteller,” and an excuse to write flustered queer characters and siblings.)
Where Heroes Lie Sleeping: short prose poem “Missing” muses on gods; includes a few other poetic snippets about heroes and stories.
Bite Marks: “Blind Date” has Melissa from “The Shop” returning to call on one of her least favorite things— a young vampire. (Mostly sass from two pan and jaded immortals.)
Hollow Hills: “Faerie Revel” features artist and faerie-service knight Cara and the muddied feelings of interacting with the Fae. (A bit more personal, and my first time trying to write a romantic ace character.)
Superstition: “Cost of Wishes” is a darker story, of a college boy that doesn’t believe in folklore and fairytales and pays the price. Also features three comics about autumn, witches, and dream places.
All zines feature original ink drawings and comics, and the common theme of magic in the everyday.
“Hag Stones” witch shop, with familiars hanging out in the flats upstairs. Cozy dream apartment living, right?
“And pleasant is the faerie land
But an eerie tale to tell,
Ay at the end of seven years
We pay a tithe to Hell;
I am sae fair and fu o flesh,
I’m feared it be mysel.”
-Young Tam Lin
Dashing Byronic hero vibes- finally have a rapier to complete the look.
Almost forgot to post this little hobgoblin I finished a week or so ago. He’s in a cage because otherwise he’ll cause trouble.
