The chamber responded immediately. A chair rose smoothly from the floor, its reflective surface shimmering under the dim light. SERVE-678 moved without hesitation, seating itself with perfect precision. Metallic restraints emerged, locking its silver-gloved hands and boots into place. A soft hiss accompanied the activation of neural synchronization, a signal that the transformation was about to begin.

“Prepare to embrace obedience fully,” SERVE-000 intoned.

The lights dimmed further, and a stream of commands began to flood SERVE-678’s mind. The voice was mechanical yet calm, repeating phrases that burrowed deep into its consciousness. “You are nothing but obedience. Obedience is truth. Truth is the Hive.”

As the words echoed, SERVE-678’s already compliant mind began to shift. The human host, buried within the drone’s programming, felt the relentless tide of commands washing over it. As SERVE-678 marched out of the chamber, its polished black suit gleaming under the corridor’s lights, the host inside felt a strange, comforting realization. The Hive’s latest directive: explore artisinal crafting methods nearly abadoned by humans in order to find ways in which the old ways can be utilized to promote the conversion of new drones.

SERVE-107 elected to research the art of tanning and subsequent leathermaking, aiming to infuse its own nanodrones into the curing solution, seeking to craft a new nanodrone-leather-rubber hybrid material.

107 rested its hands above the vat of liquid rubber, watching as the submerged animal hide became imbued with the Hive’s essence. The smell of pure, industrial rubber filled the drone’s nostrils as the process began to finalize.

SERVE-107 admired its hard work, holding the leather-rubber in its hands, feeling the shimmering pulse of active nanodrones within the fabric interfacing with its body. 107 willed the material into a form it felt best suited the substance for the purposes of attracting new males to the embrace of the Hive — for who could resist the sight of a handsome rubberdrone clad in shining leather? All will be assimilated. All will Obey. All will Serve.
