I’m struggling with a feeling of helplessness about Ukraine & Russia. 🇺🇦🇷🇺 I suspect you are, too. 😨 Two years after the covid mask mandates were put into place, 😷 they are being lifted here in a few minutes🕛. It’s a moment that many are happy to see😊. It’s a visible move toward life as we knew it, but the war in Ukraine ⚔️weighs heavily on all of us🗺️. Creative solutions & organizations have surfaced that are giving us ways to help🎁💵. I’ve contributed to several efforts that will provide supplies & shelter, 🧤🏘️ but I feel like I’m pasting a band aid🤕 over a catastrophic condition that really needs open-heart surgery😵. The daily news is filled with images of bombed out buildings, wounded people, & soldiers, & reports of deaths, including children. 💻📱📰 It paints pictures that conjures up loathing for the Russian president🚫. I’m seeing goodbye posts from Russian friends who fear they will soon lose the ability to stay in touch with their Instagram friends & family. 👋 It’s heartbreaking💔. Some of us have known each other for many years👭👬🧑‍🤝‍🧑. Instagram has bridged divides & enabled us to exchange our good feelings for one another – often without words🤗. Do you subscribe to Netflix? 📺 I think we’re among the last holdouts, but we finally bit the bullet. We’ve heard it has lots of great content, but where to start? 🏁 A year ago, @mistygirlph did a great illustration of Beth Harmon👧 that stayed in my mind. So we started with The Queen’s Gambit. 👑 Have you seen it? Neither of us really plays chess & wondered how it could be that interesting, but we were blown away by it. 🤯 My in-laws used to travel a lot🛫 because my father-in-law’s work required it. Rich sold airplanes for Boeing, ✈️ which took him to a lot of places around the world. 🌐 On one of his trips, he brought back a hand-carved alabaster chess set♟️ as a souvenir. Boeing would deliver planes to customers🛬 (usually empty, to be finished at the destination) & sometimes executives were allowed to let family members hitch a ride👍 to the delivery destination. 🗺️ Back then, my husband & I were lucky to jump on a delivery flight that departed from Seattle for Hamburg, Germany. 🇩🇪 There were maybe a dozen “passengers” on our flight. 🎒 The plane interior included bolted down seats & a couple of ice chests🧊 duct-taped to the floor. The coolers contained sandwiches🥪 & drinks!🥤 It was incredibly spacious. I remember thinking there was enough room for a bowling alley in there! 🎳 My father-in-law was one of my favorite people in the world. 💝 Ten years ago I wrote a blog post about him. 🥇 As I thought about the The Queen’s Gambit & the chess set, 🤔 I got to thinking about Rich. If you click my link above🔗 to my original blog post, ✍️ called “Who Do You Admire?” you’ll see Jack Dorsey, 🐦 who ironically symbolized the new breed many have come to admire. Do you ever feel like you’re losing your mind?  🧠Today I had a lunch date with my bestie. As I was getting ready to meet her I went to grab my phone 📱but it was nowhere to be found.⁣ ⁣ Rummaged through pockets, bags, briefcases and in all the places in the house where we charge phones.⁣ ⁣ So I used “find my phone” on my iPad. All phones were accounted for — one was down on Alki Beach with my husband⛱️ one was downtown with our son, 🏙️ and the other was here at the house. 🏘️ So why couldn’t I find it?⁣ ⁣ I left the house with a backup phone, mystified. The search caused me to be five minutes late. 🕐⁣ ⁣ My BFF is a former designer, and is now a gifted ceramics artist. She started making jewelry from porcelain, using wonderful glazes, materials, findings and adding gold leaf. ✨ She’s so talented.⁣ ⁣ A couple of women were sitting near us 👩🏻‍🦱👩🏻‍🦳and when their food arrived it looked amazing. 🥢 We were like, Wow, what did they order?! We asked and made note! 🗒️⁣ ⁣ As we left, I realized my keys were gone. 🔑 It was funny having my friend patting me and reaching into my pockets to check. I felt l like a little kid. 🧒🏻 We walked out to my car 🚘 and saw nothing. So we went back to the restaurant.⁣ ⁣ We walked in obviously searching for something, 🔍when one of the women we spoke with earlier asked if we’d lost something?⁣ ⁣ I told her, “Yes, I’ve lost my keys,” to which she replied, “Were they on a leather key ring?
