"Hmm, how strange it is that we would meet in the most oddest of places. Certainly we must call this fate?" Archer smiled as he flicked his thumb across his chin. "Or destiny, perhaps?"
The tenor of his voice froze her blood in her veins. It couldn't be him. It wasn't possible. How, after three years, had he managed to find her? Had she not been careful? Had she not taken such precaution to stay on top of her own safety? With that awful, awful sound in her ears she knew now how laughable it had all been. Every moment, every step, every heartbeat had been building to this inevitable conclusion and she should have known it from the start. When she turned, it was with slow hesitation. Perhaps, if she prayed hard enough, she would turn to find nothing there-- a mere figment of her imagination getting the better of her. But then there was that signature white and blue dominating her unfocused vision and she felt her heart seize and stick in her throat. Instinctively, she took half a step back, one foot pivoted in such a way to make turning back to run a little easier. With a shaky breath and a steadying swallow, she met his gaze."How--" Her voice cracked and she nearly winced with the patheticness of it. The question died in her throat when she realized how badly she didn't want to know the answer. The one that followed was no less charged with trepidation, but it was a question that needed answering just the same. "What are you doing here?"
