"I trust you." from Jonny xox
Complications were her driving factor. Simplicity drove her away with light speed, and for the life of her Monica would likely never choose to change that. Complications created excitement, uncertainty and painted each coming day with a darkness that couldn’t quite be seen through, it left those that cared at a loss and those that didn’t questioning why anyone would put themselves through unnecessary pain; her only answer, was that she didn’t feel it. Pain was subjective, and she’d yet to find something that could reach through cobwebs that marred her heart so tightly that she almost didn’t think it was possible to feel something like that. Perhaps it was unfair. Unfair that Monica had found the cracks in Jonny’s resolve all to easily. She could argue herself that he didn’t deserve how tightly wound she could wrap him around her finger, and perhaps a piece of her could one day feel bad for it, but with the glint in his eye and the mischief in hers, it was near impossible to feign any semblance of shock over what he now voiced. I’ll destroy you --- and it might never be intentional, but it would come, and she’d allow a hollow apology to fill her throat, and maybe one day he’d believe her; but she never would. Monica could find more beauty in the broken than she ever could an already made masterpiece, and with the loss of Ananya from their lives, broken pieces could meld together with glue and tape. I trust you. That was when she knew --- when Nic could finally understand what she was doing. She’d heal him, just to break him all over again -- to give him a heartache that didn’t overshadow loss, but which dulled the pain and gave him something else to focus on. A pretty face could create destruction in a chest that had never felt it before, it could hypnotize a viper all too focused on drawing strength from every weakness and for what she was worth, Nic could never allow him the chance to do that to her.“You’re drunk, Jonny..-- “ She smiled.
He could feel everything, and she could never return it. He could trust her with everything, and she could destroy all of it with the palm of her hand and swear by the eerie light of New Orleans that she’d never trusted him to begin with.“C’mon, there’s one more place I need you to see before the sun comes up, and you can’t be sober to see it.”
