“Hey! Jake, we missed you, man!” She heard her co-worker exclaim and jump up out of his chair to welcome her partner back from working a case in Charlotte that Lindsay knew he had volunteered to take on just so he could have an excuse not to go to her wedding. To be honest it stung and even though it had been a few weeks she still didn’t know how she felt about him but one thing was for sure, she sure wouldn’t be giving him the warm welcome back she normally would after not seeing him for a few days. The detective barely lifted her head out of the paperwork she was going through and just gave him a half smile and a casual head nod not able or caring to muster up much more than that. Without even so much as a ‘hi’ she turned her attention back to the papers sprawled all over her desk pretending to busy herself with them. She didn’t even know what to say to Jake at this point.

Lindsay walked into the upstairs of the station where the intelligence unit worked and looked around for her partner who was conveniently sitting right at his desk waiting for Voight to brief them on whatever it was they would be doing today but first Lindsay had something serious to discuss with him that just couldn’t wait, she wouldn’t be able to look at him otherwise. “You --” she said pointing to Jake, her tone already in indicator that he was in trouble. “My car, NOW. I’ve got a bone to pick with you.” was all she said and threw her things on her desk before grabbing his arm and pulling him up from his swivel chair. “Lets go.”

Dear Jake,

Man, I don’t even know where to start on this one. We’ve been through hell and back and yet here you are, still backing me up and being the best and most loyal partner anyone could ever ask for. I don’t ever want to lose you, as a partner, friend, or otherwise. I hope you know I’ll always have your back and support you. I’m always here when you need me no matter how big or small, no matter what time of day, just say the word and I’m there. You’re so incredibly important to me and I just want you to be happy because you deserve it more than anyone I know. I love you to the ends of the Earth no matter what happens.

I don’t care where you are or who you’re with, we need to talk NOW. 

Lindsay sent the text to her partner, letting him know she was pissed. She wasn’t going to stand for what he did tonight. While she thought they had talked everything out it was obvious they hadn’t if he was blowing up on Declan like that and she was going to do everything in her power to prevent it from happening again. The detective changed out of her costume and waited for him to text her back to tell them where to meet. @thejakebennett
