THE JAKES ARE MISSING MOVIE (2015)
SYNOPSIS:
Janice and Donald Jakes have fallen out of love and into Witness Protection. Being at the wrong place at the wrong time sends a teenage boy and his parents to a journey where they will rediscover what it means to love each other.
MY THOUGHTS:
The Jakes Are Missing is an interesting approach to South African films. The story was intriguingly different to what we usually get in local films. It was beautifully shot and don’t get me started with the cast members. Janice Jakes (played by Mampho Brescia) embodies her character so well as a high powered lawyer who seems to fallen out of love with his husband Donald Jakes (played by Pope Jerrod) who’s an architect. As it goes with parents with high demanding jobs, they seem to have drifted apart and have fallen into a routine life of mere existence with each other. Their absence also plays into their son’s life Simon Jakes (played by Mpho Sebeng) who’s led to believe that his parents are no longer in love. It’s a beautiful love story, for both the parents and Simon himself, filled with funny and heart-warming moments.
It’s out at Ster-Kinekor movies so PLEASE check it out!
