hot cocoa and succelent

Hot Cocoa: 3 things I love about myself are my freckles, my laugh, and (insert third thing here as I can't think of another at the moment, though I'm sure there must be something else)

Succulent: I'm about to go on an Alaskan cruise--I'm headed to Dallas this afternoon, and flying there to Seattle Thursday morning. I'm scared of flying, no ideas how I'll handle a boat ship, but I'm looking forward to spending a week and a half away from work, with my best friend and his husband.

I've been thinking about resolutions for 2017, but there's so many things I could work on to make my life better. What's one area that should take priority?

You got ‘I Love Rock n’ Roll by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. Hmm…well the thing is I think that it’s talking about your performing. I know that you’ve been doing great with Tony Fohawk lately and I think that this song is talking about that a little. “Put another dime in the jukebox, baby”. Hmm…I think that this is saying that you should put some time away each week, or day depending on your schedule, for Tony or burlesque in general. It’s your art, your outlet, and you want to make sure you can actually enjoy it without it feeling like too much work. Don’t let the record spin on and on, so to speak. When inspiration strikes let it incubate and work on it a bit at a time. Polish up what needs fixing and then let it go. You’re talented and while everything can improved some things need to be appreciated for a bit first.

Also another lyric that kept sticking out was “he was with me, yeah me” you and your partner should make some extra time for each other. Have some fun, get out of town for a bit. It feels like 2017 is going to a year where we’re going to need to be looking out for each other a lot more and I think that spending time with the people we love or care about will help through the dark times. Make sure that you are open about your feelings. And of course, have fun. Let’s make some good memories for next year.

37 and 68

37. Favorite chip brand? Flavor?I don’t really have a favorite brand, but kettle type chips are my favorite.  Two favorite flavors I’ve had lately were Boulder Canyon Turkey and Gravy, and Tyrrell's Worcestershire Sauce & Sundried Tomato.

68. Favorite typeface? So it’s not my favorite, but time for an unpopular opinion: I like Comic Sans . I think it’s a super-cute font.

Sailor Moon, Captain America, and Castiel - #3

3. fight aliens with, fight zombies with, fight capitalism with

Obviously I’m gonna fight aliens with Sailor Moon.  I mean, that’s pretty much what she does anyways, PLUS if I’m on her team I’ll probably get to be a magical girl, and I am ALL ABOUT that.  I can practically hear the midified theme music now, it’s gonna be AWESOME.

I’m going to fight zombies with Castiel. Sure, they’re a little out of his wheelhouse, but they’re probably nowhere near as tough as, say, demons, right?  He’s probably got this. (Oh no, wait. This might be a terrible idea, come to think of it.  What if they’re Croatoan zombies?  Cas will just become a drugged up alcoholic hippie.  Ah well, I guess my decision’s already been made, gotta live with it now!)

That leaves fighting capitalism with Captain America, which, great.  I can totally see Steve Rogers being TOTALLY down with peaceful protests, and he can probably rally some more support in Captain America mode.  It might backfire and get someone to release some ‘Occupy Wall Street Captain America” action figures or something, but listen, that’s a risk I’m totally willing to make because I WOULD BUY ONE TOO.

7, 45, 91

7) What was your favorite 90s show?Ohh, my LORD, this is such a hard question!  So, a TON of cartoons from the 90s have stuck with me strongly to this very day: Tiny Toons and Animaniacs, of course; Doug, Rugrats, and Rocko’s Modern Life; Reboot; Space Ghost Coast to Coast; Daria and King of the Hill.  Plus tons more I’m not going to list because this post would go on forever. For live action stuff there was basically just a ton of stuff on Nickelodeon (and especially SNICK): All That, Are You Afraid of the Dark, Roundhouse, Space Cases, Clarissa Explains It All, Hey Dude, Salute Your Shorts, and Pete and Pete. Plus a few non-Nickelodeon shows like Blossom, Wishbone, California Dreams, Saved by the Bell, and Full House (which technically started in the late 80′s, but which I totally count as a 90′s show).  Wow. Sorry for the giant chunk of tv names, but whatever.  I REALLY couldn’t pick just one.

45) Eat at home or eat out?I prefer to eat out, since my broken oven and overabundance of apathy keeps me from doing a whole lot of proper cooking, and as such meals at home are very simple things.  I don’t have the money to eat out very often, though, so I guess the answer is eat at home, if I’m supposed to say which one I do more often. (The question wasn’t super clear.)

91) What is your favorite word? There are several words I absolutely loathe, but I don’t know that I actually have a favorite word.  Maybe ‘creature’, as it’s one I use quite a bit that nobody else seems to.

5 and 18

5 Tell about the best birthday you have ever had. Well I had the best and the worst birthday when I turned 20. It was a terrible day from the start of midnight at a cast party with people that made the entire night a chore and made me fill absolutely alone. I came home to my apartment around 5 am and went to sleep till about noon only to have my parents calling leaving me several messages. We got into an argument about whether or not I was supposed to be visiting them at their house or not. I came by, we ate lunch, I got sick from the lunch, and when I was about to leave to visit the only person I really wanted to see on my birthday, my dad pretty much forced me to go to church with him. I was two hours late but I showed up to see my best friend in the whole world. After complaining about how the birthday had been pretty much par for the course he told me to open my present. Inside was a copy of a story that I had written but had been unable to submit to National Novel Writing Month or NaNoWriMo. He was able to find a place online that would create a single copy of that story and put it into a book. It was the sweetest and the kindest thing anyone had ever done for me. In that moment I knew that I was in love with this boy, and eventually he became my boyfriend. That moment made me so happy and that is why 20 was the worst and the absolute best birthday ever.

18 Tell about something that happened in Elementary School. Let’s see...oh in the fourth grade I got a taste of what it was like to be on stage. Our high school was doing The Wizard of Oz and they needed younger students to play the Munchkins. This is a really long story but the short of it was I got two roles in that show and I feel in love with acting, performing, and all the technical aspects of putting on a show. :)

3:A song that reminds you of summertime“Mendokusai” by MetronomeThe summer between my senior year of high school and my first year of college, I had this burnt on one of the three cds I had in my car.  I would blare this song SO LOUD when I was driving at night, usually with just my sister.  (It also made me drive too fast sometimes, so eventually I banned the cd from play so I wouldn’t run a light or anything. Heh.)

13:One of your favorite 80’s songs"Straight Up” by Paula Abdul or “Miss You Much” by Janet Jackson.I actually had to get help from Youtube on this one, because the first song that came to mind was apparently from the 60′s, and the next two were from the 90′s, so yeah.  What can I say, I was born in ‘85.

21:A favorite song with a person’s name in the title“I'm Henry Vlll I Am” - Herman’s HermitsFor sheer nostalgia factor.  My mom has sung this to me a random for literally as far back as I can remember, and hearing it always makes me super happy.

Mortar and Pestle and Necromancer

Mortar and pestle:How do you deal with pressure?It depends on the situation, of course, but for the most part?  Poorly.  I deal with it poorly, by stressing out A LOT and losing sleep.  Usually I manage to pull myself together enough to get whatever needs doing, done, though.

Necromancer:Had any prominent supernatural experiences?I can remember two times when I was a little kid (maybe five years old, or thereabouts) when I found myself trying to get out the front door because there were green people out there.  Like, glowy green people.  Once it was a man and a woman, another time a man and a woman and a dog.  My parents found me and stopped me from going outside both times.  I’m like 99% sure I was just sleepwalking, but I remember it SO CLEARLY, and every other time I have ever sleepwalked, I had no awareness of any accompanying dream.  So yeah, that’s the closest to supernatural I’ve ever come personally.

(That beings said, my dad swears up and down--and he’s not the lying sort--that “light as a feather, stiff as a board” worked for him and some friends when he was young.  Also my maternal grandmother has had three very supernatural moments, one of which resulted in decades later making me and my sister swear to NEVER use a Ouija Board, and another of which was verified by my atheist, total non-believer grandfather. So.)
