frankie snorted at ger’s dramatics, already rolling her eyes before the knock even landed at the door. the sound hit their chest harder than they wanted to admit; sudden nerves twisting low in their stomach in a way that felt almost embarrassingly earnest. she glanced toward the wall just in time to catch ger disappearing halfway through it, peeking around the edge with wide eyes, and that finally dragged another laugh out of her. “yes, you FREAK, that’s him,” they whispered back, grabbing the nearest throw pillow and lobbing it uselessly through the spot where his shoulder would’ve been. “and stop looking at me like that before you make ME nervous.” then she crossed the apartment and pulled the door open, smoothing her hands once down the front of her skirt on instinct. the second they saw wren standing there, their entire expression SOFTENED without permission; all the bite leaving their face at once. “hey,” she said quietly, warmth threading through the word before she stepped aside to let him in. “c’mon in. apparently my apartment’s haunted and my ghost roommate’s been LOSING his mind waiting to meet you.”
