Prompt: "They're growing up" Gavin&Sparrow

Gavin and taken Enasal out into the forest to hunt, however the other child, a young girl, followed along, her own dagger in hand. Gavin had wanted someone to stay behind with his other half, considering he heard rumors of templars roaming the area, but Sparrow didn't mind.

She always wanted her little girl to keep up with the boys. She had always thought that it would be easier for her to hide one person than to hide a child who suddenly lost all her bravery. And she was blessed with a strong sense of it.

It was late when they all returned. Together the three had been able to grab a decent meal, a small doe that would end up feeding the group for a few days, probably a couple weeks if they tried hard enough. Gavin had a large grin as he helped his son with the beginning of cleaning the animal while Siatsi ran over to her mother to give her a hug. "I take it you had a fun time?"

Gavin chuckled. "Good thing you sent Sia after us. She's the one who saw the doe and took her down." 

Sparrow pushed back a small bit of her hair, just showing the signs of gray at the temples. They were sure growing up quickly, even if it was a consistent source of stress.

The bar's patrons dwindled to a scarce few as the night continued. Olivia sat at a table by herself, sipping on a flagon and watching the promise of a good fight breaking out across the room when the stranger approached.

"--If you're lucky, we may get to see a fight soon."

She looked over at the newcomer.

"Oh, sorry-- thought you were someone else. What can I do for you, serah?"

She had been a servant in the DeWitt household. Barely working with them a week she had finally gotten the dinner routine down. Soon she would be able to work more of the dining rounds, but for the time being she was to stay in the kitchen and help bake while learning the meals the family liked.

Somehow, even after a week, she still hadn't met one of the family members. The Lord's son had never made an appearance at the dinner table, nor had she run into him while carrying food up to the Lady's study. But one night she saw an unfamiliar face come through the kitchen, or moreso his shadow over her shoulder. 

"S-ser!" Her knife slipped as the shadow startled her, narrowly avoiding a finger. He was far too tall to be one of the ones teaching her. But his lack of elven features showed he had to be one of the guardsmen but he looked so much a combination of both the Lord and Lady. It had to be the one she never met.

He simply bowed, took a few slices of apple and thanked her before bolting out the other door, nodding to a few of the other workers. Sparrow noticed a small bit of red on the table. Maker she had cut herself! She hastily pulled her sleeve up to avoid staining it since it was her only uniform when she noticed.

She didn't understand why he did it. Or why it happened. The eldest of the household had explained to Sparrow that he was far too quiet. But when she spoke to him all he could do was look for a brief moment before collapsing upon himself in the chair, hands covering his face.

"You received news, I take it?" The mage bent close to the chair, kneeling in a comfortable position to rest her hands against his. Plans ran through her head. Depending on the news, if it was the case, they would have to leave quickly and head somewhere. Her mind jumped to the worst case scenario, but she wasn't sure what to believe.

Graveyard

Graveyard: My character will visit your characters grave

The one visit she was allowed every year was to one place. She never tried anything except pick a few flowers along the way for the journey. Not to mention how heavily she had to work and stay within the laws of the Circle. Once outside of the Circle it felt nice to feel cool air. Memories of what happened always came flooding back. Rarely were her eyes dry during the walk.

It was only a couple of hours, the rain made it feel much longer. There were no flowers this year, the heavy rains having stripped many of the delicate flowers near the place they were heading. A graveyard, it was where she wanted to go. It was an agreement between her and the First Enchanter. Sparrow was lucky he even agreed to such a thing, but the contingency of templars explained that much. However even they felt awkward.

There was no other day she would do this. Simply put, it was the anniversary of her coming back to the Circle. But it was the end of an era. He died to protect her after so many years they had together.

Finally she was at the site where the templars were kind enough to bury him. A simple headstone protruded from the ground and it looked like the seeds she planted had sprouted, but the recent rainy weather stunted their growth, the nutrients washed away. She hoped they would last. The place could become a field eventually. Sparrow rested her knees near the grave, well-covered by grass and spoke a few words.

But she knew that night, she would see him in her dreams. That was what she wanted to see the most. She could feel his spirit near the grave and every year, it would be a long night.

Rescue

Sparrow thought it was the cutest thing. Gavin had been working himself beyond exhaustion for the last few days building new homes after fire had consumed a small section of the Alienage. By the time she came back from the market selling wares, usually he was asleep. That night she came back in from the rain, taking her cloak off to dry next to the fire.

The room was quiet except for the children playing around. But it was what they were playing with that made her wonder. There was a mabari puppy romping between them and Gavin was in the middle of the chaos. “How did this happen?”

The mother came up and chuckled next to the mage. “Your friend found it. I think the little thing was abandoned. Took to him pretty well.”

Nurse Me

Nurse Me: I’ll write a drabble about my character healing yours.

“Lay down, there’s no way I can get this healed up with you constantly moving around!” Sparrow pressed her hands against his chest. Gavin always proved to be the worst patient out of everyone she healed. Even children would sit still if they knew it would help.

But even with the gash on thigh Gavin still moved around. “But I want to see!”

“You don’t have to. It’s just a simple spell, so relax.” Her voice garnered the attention of one of the children in the house. The boy came up to the two and nodded in agreement with Sparrow before his mother called him back to the other room. With the silent notion of the child, Gavin leaned back and allowed Sparrow to work on the wound.

She was surprised how he wasn’t in pain. The bandages were already bloodied from the fall. But it wasn’t long before the spell was cast and the injury gone. “Better? Now are you going to watch where you stand next time you repair a roof?”
