Igor doesn't reply immediately, breath caught in his throat, for he doesn't want to believe this is an option offered to him - he doesn't want to entertain this dream of returning to his homeland, in case it gets torn out of his hands because of safety concerns or the like.
But Sylvester turns towards his side of the bed, cups Igor's face in his big, roughened hand and says, warm and wistful: "I know you miss it, dearest, and I know our daughter would be safe with your family there; so just say the word and we'll go, whatever that means for all of us."
