the rpc has a new “standard” as to what a theme should look like but you’re following it and your theme preview is blurry as fuck so maybe you should fix that before calling the rpc equivalent to the republican party?? u think ur a sjw with ur ariana grande sidebar sipping tea gif but ur hypocritical mate so if u wanna start a change then go be the catalyst for it but dont drag down thememakers when ur the one following in their footsteps with the same trends and then when people come for u u wanna reply with “my personal theme isn’t required to look at ever” lmao im done thats it

I may be wrong here because I’ve been away for some of it but people really need to learn the difference between call out culture, bullying and shedding light on a problematic part of the community.

This started out as a cry to the rpc to stop making themes that aren’t accessible since many people deem looks more important than the content and it’s a problem. If people don’t use what’s seen as popular in the community, many people won’t RP with them. If that popular thing is problematic and it’s most of the resources currently available then that is not okay. End of story, we need to change as a community and not support it.

Now calling out is about specifically targeting someone and saying publicly why that specific person/people (if it’s a group doing the problematic thing) is problematic, most probably with receipts (evidence of the problematic thing and them being asked to stop but the problematic person/people saying no/giving excuses). But the point of a callout post is to discredit/give them negative publicity so they have no influence and no one wants to work with them ever again, no matter what they do. 

Bullying is when you use influence or strength to force someone to do something.

From what I’ve seen, no one has called out anyone specifically and said ‘you need to stop doing this problematic thing which is so bad no one should ever interact with you again.’ And no one is forcing anyone to do anything against their will. There is discussion happening (well there would be if people weren’t accusatory or dismissive or just leave their blog but moving on), with constructive criticism (from your consumers btw, which you’re supposed to keep happy because there’s no point of distributing your themes if no one uses them because they’re not what people are looking for so you have to adhere to the rpc’s wishes at least somewhat) and a solution, not bullying. You (the community) have been told that you’re doing something in not the best way and you’ve been asked to change it, that is all, it is not callout or bullying. If you do get called out then that’s because you didn’t listen the first, fifth, twentieth time you have been asked but you know what? You only have to change a few things then you themes will be used, you are not being seen as someone to never interact with ever again, it’s a problem with a simple solution.

and the thing is i literally don’t even mind making bigger themes??? but 95% of the themes I’ve released are themes that i coded for Myself first so obvs they are going to be in the style that i enjoy????? i have gotten quite a few people come to me and ask me to make more uncontained/bigger container themes and i’ve already started trying to code some ??? but y'all didn’t even… ask like y'all didn’t even throw it out there as a suggestion y'all woke up and was like “ableists……. They’re all ableists i’m going to block them and then shit on everything they do” and it’s like…. chill Dude these aren’t the only themes that exist these aren’t the only options out there….. and idk why my URL bein brought up unless it’s about post size , in which i have more than one theme with 400px posts and ALL my themes have 9px font which is supposedly the “Not Ableist” requirement so i am Confused lmao but anyways

     that post and the responses to it have made me so uncomfortable to the point that i’m starting to shake and tear up like honestly what the fuck?? i feel so sick because i respected hailthehelpful’s points on the whole ordeal but,,, i get attacked for just making it known that hey, you’re making people uncomfortable with all the drama. it’s not that fucking deep. people make themes because they like them. people share these themes because they think that they look good. your BROWSERS offer tools (ie zooming into a page) to help if you are unable to read a page. there are OPTIONS to help you if you need it, there have been OFFERS to make parts of themes for your convenience. 

     i think i’ve spoken about this before but if someone says/posts something who obviously has no intentions of hurting anyone’s feelings/making anyone feel offended don’t go and shit on them and BULLY them just to prove your point? there are better ways to make people more aware of whatever the hell you’re talking about than indirecting them and making them uncomfortable. you could have messaged me and been like “hey man, sorry if i interpreted your message wrong but here are some informative links to educate you on what i’m trying to say”? but you chose to indirect me and encourage people to make me feel like shit because i simply don’t see the point in this argument when it’s obvious these theme makers are not intentionally being ableists?? you’re turning themes, jumbles of codes and graphics and colour schemes, into a social justice awareness party when there are other and more important/influential ways to inform people without blatantly attacking them. 

     you have the ablility to inform this community politely, without the pettiness and the messiness about the importance of taking in consideration the needs of those who suffer from disabilities, but you decide the best way to inform everyone is to come across as rude, a bully and obnoxious. i’m sorry to say that while you’re trying to “fix” this community, you’re feeding it the toxicity that makes it one of the worst places on the internet at the same time. you are TWENTY, older than most of the theme makers in this community that you are fighting against, but you’re taking pride in being rude, pretentious and a down right bully. you’re not going to win a fight and change any minds when you’re literally being so disgusting. learn from this how easily it is for others to lose all respect for you and what you stand for because you are being a horrible person. 

     and just to prove my point that there are better ways to fix things and inform people, i’ve tried to be as civil and polite as i can in this response to the disgusting and uncomfortable post you made about me. but either way, my message remains the same. fuck you.

Honestly, I’m glad that this is one of the first things of 2017. Yes purge the toxic, let’s work to be better this year as a community.

@hailthehelpful I love how people are like ‘why are you talking about themes, why aren’t you talking about lack of PoC resources? Or something more important?’ Or 'why aren’t you being nice to me, I’ll listen if you’re nice’ Like we’re veterans at calling out the community on their problematic stuff and it’s the same excuses, different fight. We ARE fighting for more PoC resources, accessibility is important too, you can fight more than one battle this is just the flavour of the month. Also, no one owes you anything, especially since Raven is a PoC themselves, expecting them to do all the legwork and then be nice instead of you actually taking what has been said/suggested on board and doing something about it is wrong. Please refer to the many discussions had on racism and why people don’t have to be nice. Look through people’s tags before asking, they’re tagged for your benefit and things are being copied and pasted or not really answered because it’s the same thing every time one of our posts about problematic rpc issues crops up. This is not an isolated issue, many posts have been made on the issue (and others) it's just finally being heard. You do the work you expect someone to do when you ask them to educate you. You want to learn, look for the resources first
