Basically, the problem -- which I guess is a recent development in tumblr because they like to make life difficult with each update -- is any “http” in your theme code needs to read as “https”. Which you can just use the “replace all” function in the custom code. But, if you don’t know how to do that, no worries! I will show you. Open your blog, and go to the html customization screen. Hit control+f ( or command+f on a mac ). Type “http” on the left side, and “https” on the right, and then click all. Not just replace, as it will replace them one at a time.

Then click update preview, and save and then you’re done! EDIT: Upon me trying this on a few pages, I actually recommend HTTP: under search replaced by HTTPS:. Otherwise, instead, if you do have any original https in the code, it’ll add an additional, unneeded ‘s’ to the end.

Difficulty with editing your blog’s theme or custom HTML

All of Tumblr is now served over HTTPS by default. As a result, if you’ve recently tried to update your theme’s custom HTML or blog description, you might have received an error message asking you to try again using only HTTPS URLs. If you’re the type of person who knows what that means, then you can upload new HTTPS assets. Head to your Theme Customization page, click “Edit HTML,” and then click “Theme assets.” Otherwise, you can fix this issue by installing a new theme for your blog.

/!\ “HTTPS” error is now fixed!

I just made a quick* update in all of my themes and now they are working with the encryption!

So if you’re having this problem with one of my themes, please, take the updated version of its code. You can find all my themes in here, all of their codes are updated.

*When I say “quick” I mean that I only fixed the HTTPS issue of the themes. I still intend to make a more detailed update in all of my old themes as soon as possible.

I can't edit my theme D: it keeps giving me that http error but I already changed the http urls in the code to https :(

So there’s an error currently occuring regarding themes, that reads as follows:

Uh-oh! We couldn’t save your theme. Looks like your custom theme references assets from non-HTTPS URLS. Please try again using only HTTPS URLs.

I’m aware of the problem hitting pretty much all of my themes and I’m fixing each of my codes with the needed fix, give me about 20 minutes to ensure I have it all and all will be well.

As an explanation: If you’re running into theme issues where you can’t save, do a ‘Search and Replace’ option and type http in the search bar and https in the second, and hit ‘all’. If it still doesn’t let you save, go through each URL that’s in the theme, once you have them all, it’ll let you save your theme.
