During my earlier escapades of podcast exploration, I can confidently say I was at my most experimental. Though it only dates back to a few years ago, I was scrubbing my way through a long list of shows that soon enough became my favorites and those that were lost in time or, inevitably, down my […]
Check out this recent review of The Meat Blockade by Podcake!!!
After escaping from a crowd of zombie-like creatures, Berenger discovers a strange restaurant in the sewers beneath Nighttown called ‘Kathy’s American Café’. What is this ‘chef surprise’ that the owner, Kathy Pedroast, insists on serving? And why does his brother, Gremauld, roar like a terrifying beast from the kitchen? Back in the radio world, Chief Inspector Fry takes his love of polka music to an obsessive level while enjoying his new job as a radio DJ…
This is part of the re-release of Volume One onto YouTube and Spotify!
Also, wanted to give a special thanks to @cakeradio (known to us as podcake in the beginning) for being a huge supporter of the show for the last four or more years and helping expose us to a wider audience. Your articles on our show always encouraged us to keep pushing on, despite our slow release schedule.
Also, a big thank you to the talented @noellenarddesign for designing amazing artwork for each episode. You’ve been extremely patient with us working out the details, and we can’t wait to show the world your artwork in 2020!
Hey guys! Long time no post, BUT... we finally have Episode 8 completed, "The Army of the Platypi (Part Two)"! This completes Volume One for The Meat Blockade, the end of an era. Exactly six years ago, my brother Mike and I decided to create a fictional audio play called 'The Meat Blockade' during the end of the first summer that we moved into our condo, or as we always lovingly called it, the 'Hennessy Movie Palace'. We both wanted to create a show with high quality cinematic-like sound design that could take your ears into another world full of fun and bizarre characters with a story that balanced on a mix between Monty Pythonesque absurdism and the dark surrealistic world of Franz Kafka.
Six years and eight episodes later, I think we did just that. This release coincides with Mike and I finally moving out of our 'Hennessy Movie Palace', so it's all been feeling a bit nostalgic this week. Not in a bad way at all, just being able to look back at all the ups and downs within the past six years has stirred up many memories. Mostly good ones.
So here it is... the eighth and final episode to Volume One of The Meat Blockade. I'd like to thank the following people for contributing and supporting the show: JJ Chalupnik, our mom Linda Hennessy, Andrew Bueker, Conrad Miszuk, Hanna Jones, Grace Ogesen, Claire Ogesen, Kimberly Aiello, Drew Leatham, Jack Chapman, Michael Zimmerlich, Sean Oliver, Cody Hunt, Morgan Stehr, Keenan James, and the Sounds of the Mouth Men's Ensemble. Thank you guys for supplying your talented voices and/or always supporting our zany little show with infinite patience between episodes, means a lot to Mike and I.
We plan on taking 2020 off from Meat Blockade, but that doesn't mean we don't plan on coming to it, for Karl Berenger's story hasn't concluded yet. Volume One may be completed, but there's still a Volume Two in the horizon...
If it's been a while since you've last listened to The Meat Blockade, we recommend that you start with Episode One and work your way to the finale.
