I think something the mechanisms fandom should think about is like, yeah Dr Carmilla did bad things. Even if it was not their intent to, can someone actually ethically consent to becoming immortal WHILE their body is in survival mode? But intent doesn't take away bad actions, and that doesn't even mean Dr Carmilla is bad. You can like her, I love her. But it's also important to say yes, these were bad actions. They recognize this, which is why there were no more mechanisms. Because she realized it wasn't really them, something was taken away. And they weren't really given a choice. Dr Carmilla isn't a bad or good person because people aren't "bad" or "good". Dr Carmilla is every action she's taken, every choice they've made, everything that's happened, every thought she's had. She's not bad or good. They just are.
