Monthly Challenges/Themed Months

Hi!

So I’m planning ahead for the year - because if I don’t write in advance, there is absolutely no way I will meet a deadline. No chance. None at all. I’m despicable, so-

I’m trying to make a list of the monthly challenges and themes and make lil plans for them, and this is here so if there is anything I’ve missed, let me know! I can try and add it on, shift it around, etc -

And if anyone wants to request any ideas, prompts or stories for those months, absolutely do! <3

January

February

Faebruary - this I intend to do with a few fae-revolving stories, so if you have any gender, SFW/NSFW, monster or prompt preferences, let me know! I’m forever wanting to indulge in more fae

March

April

May

Mermay - again, like with Faebruary, I would do several stories revolving around mer characters (including octomer because I adore them)

Monster May - this would need to be ask and prompt based

June

July

August

Taurgust - admittedly I am quite lacking on the -Taur front, and I would write them... I’m just not as invested in them, which is weird because I adore cervitaurs, just not centaurs

September

October

Kinktober - yeah. This will happen and being honest, three fics have been written at 2000+ words already. At my whim instead of any list, but I would 100% welcome monster suggestions/kink suggestions (I am a strictly 18+ and no non-con exo blog, thanks). A kink list will be properly outlined and published nearer the time <3

Monstertober - I saw something somewhere about this? I think again prompt based or a random list one, but honestly I’d be focused on kinktober

November

Necrovember - undead monsters, like vamps, ghosts, zombies (maybe. I’m undecided on them), and probably other monster suggestions - would lichs count as undead?? I adore lichs

December

Tropemas - and my 2020 tropemas masterlist is here! I loved writing these stories and there are so many tropes I didn’t have time to fit in, so expect a return this year!

I know that there are posts running around out there already covering what months are what, but I can’t find the detailed ones. So a little help in the comments is appreciated  (^～^). Here’s what I have so far/Ideas for months I wasn’t sure of if they had one:

June: Junicorn (I had forgotten about this one)

?September?   (Satyrmber- could be about Satyr/Faun)

?November?    (Nokkvember- could be about Nokken/Other Water Spirits)

Themed Months

Howdy, Fannibals!!!

What are your thoughts about having a fic theme each month?

The mods have been plotting and we thought perhaps a theme each month made up of a specific trope, canon or season would be the perfect opportunity for everyone to rec us your favourite fics of that genre.  We might even open our inbox to prompt ideas that work under that months chosen theme, for any authors that feel the urge to write something new.

At the end of that month we will compile everything into a masterpost that we will then link on our blog so that you can always find the perfect fic when the feeling strikes! 

We will still reblog and promo any fics outside that theme that you have written or tagged us in.  

Basically we want to get your help to make a great database of Hannigram fanfiction that is easy to access and full of amazing stories!

So, I made a post a couple days ago debating doing a Rare Pair month this year at some point, and I think I will. I’m also considering hosting ‘No Square November’ where you can only write about ships that don’t involve Adrien and Marinette. Rare Pair month can still include things like Chlonette or Adrino, but No Square November would be things like Julerose or Kimax. Thoughts? 

I’ll still be hosting Crackmas again in July, and right now I’m sort of in talks with the minor character discord about doing a calendar year event (themed months) but we’ll see. If I don’t get in on that then I’ll for sure do the two months I listed above. All of this started because we think there’s too much devotion to the LS cause each side of it gets its own month and then people do weeks for them throughout the year a million times when it’s not those months too. Don’t get me wrong, I love the square, but it can be grating, particularly to people who want their ships to get more attention. Right now we’re just brainstorming, but I’ll likely do Rare Pair month this spring, Crackmas in the summer, and then No Square November obviously in November. I want to kind of pick a month for RP where not a lot is going on, but that can be hard in this fandom.

Next themed month will be...

Lauren Faust Month.  For those who don't know, my tree main influences are- Genndy Tartakovsky Lauren Faust and Craig Mccracken And after Lauren, will be Craig.  and June will be Sailor moon month(because of Usagui's birthday).  This year themed months are helping me have more focus and also help me avoid art blocks.  I do them during my free time  when I'm not doing freelance work.  and I'm glad that I'm doing it, because I'm doing things that I like and also challenging myself.

More Themed Months of Drawing!

Well, we have Inktober, and Mermay. I think I'm going to start adding a bit to further challenge myself and add more fun. I'm thinking of starting:

* Febufairy - February

* Junicorn - June

* Dragoncember - December

Just to add the primary fantasy creatures to the months ^_^ Everyone is welcome to join me of course! Should I make an official list? Does anyone else think they might participate?
