Neighborhood: Southeast WDC | Establishment: Earl Howard Studios | History: Established in Gainesville, Florida in 1956, Earl Howard Studios founded by Mr. Earl Howard himself, made it's move to Washington DC in 1968. For over 40 years the company has not only provided photography services for "generations of families as they graduated from local high schools" but has also dedicated it's services to HBCUs across the nation, the NFL, and local government agencies. Earl Howard Studios positioned itself to not only act as a business but also an institution for young people who were interested in learning more about photography. A July 13 1980 Washington Post article also noted Earl Howard Studios as a location to purchase $3 tickets to "Friday night's D.C. Coaches Association All-Star football game at RFK Stadium,". Earl Howard still operates and resides at it's 2528 Pennsylvania Ave SE WDC address. Miss Ayana Howard, the youngest child of Earl Howard, is vice president and oversees it's daily operations. Thank you Miss Howard for taking the time to share your father's legacy with #TheMergingLanesProject | #heritage #culture #photography #history #blackhistory | (Earl Howard, pictured bottom left).
