Tales of the Sage of Masks
It is in the late night that I write this entry, for any of those that may read it. To begin, I have had many adventures, and have met several fascinating characters.
In my travels early on, I met a mischievous, wandering poe known simply as “This One”. We became good friends rather quickly, and I’ve made several visits to her when I can. (themischievouswanderingpoe)
I have also been fortunate enough to have met the Happy Mask Salesman. Quite a fellow that one, never a dull moment and never have I left his shoppe without a smile. (happymaskshoppe)
Oh, I must also mention my trip to the land of Skyrim. It was....violent. Nearly everything large enough there to raise a sword or claw tried to kill me at one point or another. In fact, a dragon had sunk his fangs into my shoulder. To this day, I am still scarred. Although, the dragon named ‘Paarthurnax’ was kind, and willing to share his wisdom with me.
When I left that barbaric land, I came back to Hyrule. There, I found that I had accidentally wandered into the fountain of the Great Fairy Queen. (greatqueenoffairies). She was quite concerned that I had had a scuffle with dragons, and tended to my wounds. She had even given me some fairy powder in case I needed to be healed quickly.
On the road though, I managed to get attacked by some vicious animals. They must have sensed the cursed objects I carried, and thought I would harm them... I would count this as a great misfortune, if not for the fact that I had awoken to a beautiful winged maiden named Akane (scarletwingedwarrior). She tended to my wounds, and a friendship was made that would blossom into something much greater in the future.
In my other travels, I have come across the Shadow of the Hero of Time (shadow-of-time). He asked for a weapon and I forged him one in exchange for helping me slay the dragon that tried to kill me.
On another plain, in another realm, I came to a mystic land where I found a lady by a lake, speaking of demons and dangers to look out for (leonardoxleads). She was quite hospitable.
Another time I had come back to Hyrule, I found Akane in a cave, bloodied and wounded. I tended to her injuries like she had my own, and spent some time with her, getting to know her better. It was then that she had asked me my name, to which I sadly responded, “I wish I could give you one, truly. But, I have no name. I have my mask and my title, nothing more.” She had given me the name “Mamoru”, which means protector.
When traveling in a different part of Hyrule, I met a young incarnation of the Hero of Time himself! Though...we had a misunderstanding......and a heavy argument, to which I admit that I lost my temper....(finding-the-courage)
In that same timeline, I met a young incarnation of the princess, Zelda (legendarylullaby). She was most kind, and very wise for her age. Though, I will admit that is to be expected. Even if she did not remember me......
Anyway, in another world I visited, I met a powerful demon named ‘Chaos’. “Soul wrought of Terra corrupt”, he was a being born of tainted Lifestream. But, I did not see the beast of legend. No, I saw beyond that. I found a lonely and miserable soul, desperate to escape a fate he did not want. And so, I freed him. (chaosgalian).
Along with all these beings I’ve come across, I’ve also come across a vampire (yourstrulyalexanderdietrich). He sought to find his sister, which I am presently helping with, but it may take some time...
(colorfulcalamities) When visiting another realm, I also came across a young woman. She claimed herself a witch, but I cannot be certain. The only witches I’ve ever known have tried to rip the mask from my face or turn me into something... Namine was her name, the girl. She was curious about me, and a little afraid, but I sensed something very kind about her.
Oh! Another adventure into Hyrule had placed my into the depths of the Lost Woods. And what a trial that was... (delicious-poison-pie) Though I did make a new friend there as well. Her name was Hortensia, and she was a chu-chu woman. I did not know they could take humanoid form...let alone be kind.
There was another whom I crossed paths with, a man of a rugged nature (professionallytwisted). I do not know his name, but he matches the description of a being I’ve heard of by the name ‘Dean Winchester’. If he is the same, I must exercise caution and be sure not to antagonize him. From what I’ve heard, like myself, even gods cannot stop him...
I should add that when I returned to the world where I first met Namine, I found another young girl who seemed almost like her opposite (the-moon-before-twilight). She was dressed in black, and held a certain darkness to her. Though, there was a kindness to her eyes too. And, oddly enough, I had run into Namine again later on, but she did not recognize me...(unique-memory-witch)
Though I have written much about the trouble with the flying reptiles known as dragons, I do confess.....that I have a dragon hatchling to take care of. I had come across its egg abandoned on a mountainside. When a young man came across my path, he confessed he’d been on the run from an unkind goddess (naivthethief). As we talked, the little one hatched, and seems to believe I am its mother..
And last but not least, I came back to Hyrule once more. Akane had decided to settle down there, and I was very excited to meet her there. For you see, during my last adventure with her, she confessed her love to me. And I, in turn, did the same. She was even able to remove my mask, something that I’ve never been able to do because of a spell.
When I had visited her home, she invited me to stay for an extended period of time. When I did, we had a visit from my pirate cohort (http://gold-and-ink.tumblr.com/). His ship had to deal with an attempted mutiny...as well as giant spiders.. A few weeks later, Akane had a letter come to her. And, though I will not disclose everything that had occurred after her receiving said letter, I will confess that I, Mamoru, the Sage of Masks, am engaged to her.
These are the adventures I’ve come across thus far, if I have forgotten any, I will change this entry immediately. None should be forgotten or left behind.

“Awwww!” Vaughn gushed loudly, hopping over to the poe that was presenting him this gift and no sooner wrapping his arms around his draped fellow. This One was most adorable and even when it had changed back into its original form, Vaughn hadn’t abandoned it. He, after all, had a true form himself, one he didn’t favor by any means. This One might like its own form, and Vaughn was perfectly okay with that- even if it was a bit chilly and not all there.
It was okay though- because at least his companion was light and funny, not to mention the fact that he could sneak in to the back of the shop to hang out with someone he was certain he was soon going to be calling friend. This One was so cute and kind to him, that just seeing the blooming plant present to him filled him with joy that he could hardly contain.
“Yooooou,” he emphasized greatly, “are the very best!” when he took This One’s hands in his own to pull it around in small circle. “Does this mean you’re fallin’ fer me??”
It had to crane its neck to look at the stranger and blinked up at him as best it could. It was hard to see anything with the hood blocking most of its vision. What was he doing back here? The Salesman had said that the backroom was for employees only. Were they trying to steal a mask like that stranger had once tried to do? If they were, the ex-poe wasn’t sure it’d be able to stop him from taking anything. Perhaps he could latch onto his leg? “This One was trying to stay out of everyone’s way to avoid getting stepped on since it can’t get up… Being on the floor is less fun than it is being alone…” It felt slightly jealous seeing how easy it was for the stranger to move around. It shook its head to clear its thoughts. “What are you doing back here anyways? The backroom is employees only!”
“Well, cain’t ya sit up?” Vaughn asked, offering a hand to the other with a small chuckle. It was cute- the person kept calling themself ‘This One’- was that kinda like their name? Obviously, it needed to be The Chosen One- because now the redhead was curious as he plopped backward onto his butt and crossed his legs. The Chosen One was now granted access to Vaughn’s grinning company and he wasn’t about to leave anytime soon- not when they had acknowledged him.
It must not have taken long for them to catch on though, and Vaughn had the decency to blush and duck his head at the other’s scolding tone. Yes, he knew full well that it was for employees only, but.... well, he was just curious. Just looking never hurt anyone- yes, “Just lookin’...” he muttered honestly, still holding out his hand in hopes of aiding the other.
It looked up at the stranger and waved. "Oh, hello! Please be careful and don't step on This One. It has been turned into a human and doesn't know how to walk."
Vaughn stopped his sneaking through the inventory and looked around for a moment to place the voice to a body. It was quite dark in the back of the shop, and for that reason, he was still trying to have his eyes adjust to the low lighting. Needless to say, it only took another few steps and the waving hand to catch his attention and realize that the person that spoke was a few feet away from him and watching his not so legal actions. It wasn’t like he was going to steal or anything- he was just curious about what was in the back of the shop- and apparently, that answer came in the form of a person sprawled out on the floor.
He couldn’t help it- he blinked a few moments before he grinning from ear to ear and practically bounced over to the other enthusiastically so he could tower over the fallen person. It didn’t take but a moment for him to crouch next to him, a giggle bubbling from his lips. “Turned inta human, huh?” he asked, his hands on his knees to keep himself balanced. “I know how that is, ya know. Ain’t easy at first-” not that he had problems with walking though. Minish to Hylian wasn’t that far of a stretch after all.
“So are ya just hangin’ out on the floor? Do ya want company? I kin do company. ‘Sides, ain’t fun alone, yooou know.”
