Hi! I know it's literally just the start of the new year, but I was wondering if the Hogwarts House Reading Challenge will be returning this year? :)

Wow, I feel honored that you're asking about the HHRC! I'm not going to lie and say I haven't been thinking about it.

I felt like last year's needed much more planning on my part and that I fell short to all the participants and I wanted to do it better, but I just wasn't sure. Now you're asking me about it I feel more motivated.

In short: Yes expect one soon. A bigger and better 'challenge' if life allows it :)

Meeting people can be really hard. Are there any nearby groups you can join? For example, if you enjoy writing I'd be surprised if there's a writing group somewhere near you and groups like that can be a great way to meet people. :)

1. My work schedule is unpredictable so committing to something on a regular basis is a challenge. Especially considering most such groups meet on weekday nights.

2. I've had a few vague encounters with the local writing community and most of them have the egos-the-size-of-continents problem. I'm actively trying to avoid people like that.

i think you're great. having trouble making friends has nothing to do with who you are. it's only an error on account of your approach. approach does not reflect how great you are as an individual bc tactfulness is something that can be learned.

I never said anything about my approach, hun. The problem is I don't know anyone I want to be friends with in the first place and I don't have any clear ways of meeting decent people.

I don't think I'm ever going to read a Cassandra Clare book because I've found her fans to be really intimidating, and quite vicious.

that's how I was with hockey for a long time. I met a lot of rotten hockey fans and didn't want to be in a fandom with them

but once I actually started watching it, I realized I could be a fan of hockey without being part of a group of the people that scared me.

So basically what I'm getting at, if you WANT read the books: don't let the fandom/fans scare you. You can read the books without talking to any of the vicious people in the fandom. Good luck!

Have fun reading Harry Potter! :D I kind of wish I could unread them just to experience them for the first time again.

Hi! Just out of curiosity, have you read any Tanya Huff? She's a brilliant Sci-Fi and Fantasy writer. I don't like to say 'she writes strong, independent female characters' because I'm tired of women having to be 'kick-ass' to be readable, but she does brilliant work at challenging gender roles and stereotypes. :)

I haven’t! I’ll defiitely check her stuff out, thank you for the recommendations. :)
