Matthew 7:14
“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad and easy to travel is the path that leads the way to destruction and eternal loss, and there are many who enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow and difficult to travel is the path that leads the way to [everlasting] life, and there are few who find it.” (AMP)
What is the narrow way? The narrow way is Jesus! In John 10:9 Jesus said: “I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved …”. Jesus said, “I am that door; I am that “narrow gate” that leads to heaven.” How do you get into heaven? Through Jesus. In John 14:6 Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.”
What is the broad way? That’s the way of the world, a world ruled by the enemy and sin. It’s the easy way, the way most people are going, the way the Devil wants us all to go, so we go to destruction and miss out on Heaven. Many choose the broad way and live life on the broad path, because it’s easy to fall into the darkness and go down the wrong path. The way to hell and destruction is easier to find and the broad gate is big and wide open for anyone that wants to go through (the Devil puts signposts up and invites people in) but it’s not the way we want to go. Some of your friends may be going that way at the moment. Going a different way is not easy all the time and it may mean going a different way to your friends; but when you enter those gates, meet God and walk on the roads of gold, you’ll see it will be have been worth the effort it took to get there. Going the narrow way is to turn away from the crowd and go the way Jesus did and follow His teachings. It may seem at times like the folks on the broad path are having way more fun. They may seem like they’re having fun, but do they have peace? And where are they headed? Somewhere you don’t want to go.
It comes down to this: If we really believe that Jesus is the only way to heaven then we need to get on the right road and tell other people about it so no one misses out -because God wants every single one of us to join Him in His kingdom. If your friends aren’t on the right path, you need to pray for them to change path and show them how to get there, because God wants no one left behind. And if we really believe in Jesus and His path, then even when the whole world is going the other way, and pressuring us to go along with them, we’re going to take our stand and keep going -even if we're doing it alone. Because we know that it is Jesus who told us: “Enter at the narrow gate, for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who are going through it, because small is the gate and narrow is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.” (MEV)” Jesus says if you want to get to heaven, there is only one way to get there, and that is through following Him. So don't get caught up in what anyone else may be trying to get you to do if it doesn’t feel right according to God’s Word. Don’t be deceived by any earthly thing, go Jesus’ way and grab that everlasting life!
