The Nightmare Is Here
This is a written ask blog dedicated to the “Nightmare” of IDV. Come forth, “Detectives”, and let us “discuss” manners of your choosing.
Although many consider this manor to be a "Hell", to you, has it become something akin to a "Home"? Of course, for you, could those things be called the "same"? Hehehe... ( @thenightmareidv )
(⊗⌴ ખɩ : “the manor has what i need... that's it.
i didn't even want to come here. it's not a home, just- shelter. it's not nice enough to be a home.
...you're one of the hunters, aren't you? what do you want with me..?"
(@thenightmareidv)
What determines if a guest becomes a survivor or hunter?
A complex question with a complex “answer”, Detective.
You will not receive a definitive answer, not today. You should ask yourself- do “I” truly know? Would “I” ever tell you a complete answer? Would “I” even tell you if I knew a complete answer?
Regardless, it is my wish that you theorize with me, dear Detective. It is my joy to do so... if only one was here with “me”.
The first point that springs to my mind is the fact that certain guests hold an “Identity” in both “factions”. Some of which have not yet been revealed to you. Others will only ever hold one such “Identity”. It is even possible- theoretically- for another “Identity” to belong to the same “faction”... would you call one “Identity” the truth over another? Is there more significance to the “Identity” that you witnessed first? Or last? What of the case of “I” and “Orphy”?
To the question once again- what determines where an “Identity” falls? What could be such factors to determine one’s “faction”?
The mental willingness to do great and repeated harm? Not quite, as even among Survivors are those stained with many sins. Even a lovely little “Gardener” has a kill count (well done, “Miss Woods”). The opposite is true among certain Hunters. Such as our dancing “Butterfly”... before she entered our dark halls, she wouldn’t have hurt a single soul.
The physical ability to do such harm? Perhaps so. After all, “Survivors” cannot hope to fight a “Hunter”. Can they evade, delay, stall, confound, and even escape one? Yes. But never fight. This is also a difference very easily seen in between the “Identities” you know, Detective. Look how the great “Evil Reptilian” soars through the sky, bringing swift death! And then the quiet “Professor”, courteous, and dignified.
I think I have theorized for you enough.
This is the most interesting question I have received thus far, Detective. I thank you for this opportunity... I do hope you will be able to "know” a more complete answer, in time. If you so please, dear Detective, do send in another query of your thoughts.
"hunter" this "survivor" that how about you go "find" some "bitches"
I will inform you, Detective, that while I would consider your mother a “fine” woman (send her my regards)... some things, I have no “desire” to find or experience. I will not “search” for that which I do not “seek”.
My only desire has ever laid in these vast studies and experiments. I find it so much more fulfilling to watch... look at them all! Humanity is both their own greatest comedy, and their greatest tragedy! That is what I desire.
oh great funny birb man, why are you so terrifying?
A “Nightmare“ is the unchained fear of a human. What do they fear more than the unpredictable “unknowns”, the ruthless “dangers”, and the complete “darkness”? That is, all of those terrible and fearsome things are simply “panic”, when a human loses their grip on reason, shattered utterly, the ultimate and undeniable loss of control. It is what “He” fears most, and thus, it is his “Nightmare” who is in control of this twisted land. How ironic... it is reasonable to expect the loss of reason... hahahaha. Despite all this, whether you find me “terrifying”- or “funny” is entirely up to your “perception”, dear Detective. Whatever you see and think, it must be your “truth”, no?
Rules
My replies will be text-based, due to time/skill constraints. Don’t feel pressured to draw replies! (I will cherish you forever if you do.) I do hope you’ll feel satisfied. Interaction with blogs of both canon and OC characters are allowed. =] This blog takes in Asks and occasionally, sentence-style rps. I can’t keep up with bigger rp styles on Tumblr, apologies. The Nightmare is seemingly only ever interested in brief discussion, but who’s to say you cannot visit and pick up a discussion once again? Due to its nature and place in the Manor, The Nightmare is already aware of at least the surface level of each character’s story, but not much more. (If there’s any specific details you’d like the Nightmare to be unaware/aware of, give it a mention!) The “Nightmare” and “Orpheus” are considered as two separate personalities in one body, but for the purpose for this blog, the “Nightmare” has manifested into reality, not quite sharing the same body with Orpheus. Only cool guys get raven friends and the ability to teleport Due to the choices made by Netease when making lore and just the fact that they are not the most consistent with this. Well, I’ll be doing my very best to get the most accurate interpretation of the lore, especially with (at time of writing) the Ashes of Memory event coming up, if something seems to be contradictory or inaccurate... know that the Nightmare is not required to tell you the “truth“. Also, don’t be a jerk. Bigotry, racism, TERFs, any of that, stay out.
Greetings, Nightmare.
I have a question for you.
What's your opinion about survivors? Do you have any favourite or the most hated survivor? And also what's your attitude about other hunters?
In order to answer your question, dear Detective…
Tell me, what is the true difference between a “Survivor” and a “Hunter”? After all, “I” and “He” were the first to show you, Detective, that it is not so simple. “Oprhy” once saw the “Prospector” and “Entomologist” as “Hunters”, and you see them as “Survivors”. Is there a “truth”? While they may be called “Survivors”, most could also be called “Hunters” in their own right- their past riddled with darkness. No matter what you “decide” what your “answer” is, mine remains the same. Subjects in these “trials”, as am I. I have nothing further to say on this “subject”. Nor do I have any “favorite”.
As for my least favorite… of course, only that “Memory”, oh that “Memory”! In our way! Such “bait” was necessary, alas, it would seem that it was far too effective. Just as his namesake, “Orpheus” has sealed his fate by “looking” backwards… utterly unable to face towards the future.
I will only tell you this; Just as I am a “Nightmare”, it would be more apt to refer to “Her” as a “Dream”, and not a “Memory”. Perhaps that will help “Orphy” realize more of the “truth”, at last?
Opinion on committing arson.
Dear Detective, “Fire” is one of man’s most important tools. After all, the punishment of Prometheus for giving such a gift to mankind was indeed earned, was it not? What a tool “Fire” has become... Have you ever heard of a “crucible”, Detective? Substances within this container are subjected to the most intense flames, resulting in a refined “product”. “I” am one such “product”, created from the crucible “Orphy” found himself in. Those flames are responsible for my “birth”, so should I be “thankful” to them, Detective? I refuse. “Personally”, I detest flame and light. “Fire” used in such a manner is reckless, uncontrollable, and unrefined. Thus, I find it a “distasteful” choice of tool. It is far superior to use “cold” tools. Even the Twenty-Sixth Guard knows to use that “Tool” in a precise and thus, “acceptable” way. ...Oh? The Detective has said that I have “two nickels”. Odd.
