Forgot to take a pic of all my beanies in the public rubbish bin, where I threw them tonight. Callin’ it on the crochet, hundreds of hours of work but nobody wants it. So it’s time to give it away and move on. Fsr, people will flock to pay $60 for a mass-produced, machine-knitted shapeless blob of a hat with a machine-made brand patch glued on the front, one of only deca-thousands.. but throw my stuff down as being “too expensive” (even at 50%+ off) or accuse me of having it made in Indonesia and only pretending to have made it myself. It’s actually a crock of shit that if you do what you love, it will make you money. What makes money is knowing that everyone buys what everyone else is buying and it’s smarter to just see what the trend is about to be and make 5000 of those, identical and in the colour beige. If you sense bitterness underlying this, it’s not at all that I have yet another failed venture under my belt, it’s just that it is really depressing realising just how generic and non-individual people are in general. Obvs I am not talking of the exceptions, in which I think my peer group is above-averagely-represented.
