"So... are you okay?" Zoey asked softly. "I know it's a lot to take in... I should've probably told you about her sooner... like... when I got pregnant... but I was scared you wouldn't react well and... sorry, I'm rambling... Just don't break her heart, okay?"
Theo sighed, looking a little sad all of a sudden. "Do you really think I would?"
"I... sorry," she hesitated for a moment, choosing her words carefully. "I just know how you are with relationships... which isn't a bad thing! I mean, you're free to woohoo whoever you want, we were never actually an item... but she's different."
"I know that," Theo said. "I've still got 5 points of niceness. I'm not a complete plumbob."
"I'm sorry..." Zoey apologized again. "I'd like you to be a part of her life, but only if you really want to be. Otherwise, I'm giving you an out right now. You can take it and there won't be any harm done."
"I don't want an out," Theo was surprisingly quick to respond. "I can be there. I can be a good dad. I want to be."
"Good," Zoey smiled.
