Summary: Castiel does not expect the figure model at his drawing class to be so handsome.Nor does he expect to sleep with him, know his baby brother, or fall stupidly in love with him.Dean does not expect Castiel-the-artist to have nipple rings, volunteer at the library, or become such a huge part of his life.But hey, they roll with the punches.

It’s not entirely uncommon for a fic to start with a one-night stand like this one does, but it’s what comes afterwards that makes it stand out. Once the immediate physical attraction between Dean and Cas has been acted upon, real life rears its ugly head, and circumstances keep them apart-- until they bring them back together again. Dean’s typical devotion to Sam is intensified by the widened age gap between them, placing him more in the role of a parent than an elder brother and leaving little room for a romantic relationship in his life-- or so he thinks. The slow way Castiel comes to fit himself into Dean’s life is sweet, as is the way Dean comes to depend on Cas in more ways than one. It’s clear that they’re equally good for each other, that there’s more than just that immediate physical attraction between them, and in a fun reversal, the story actually gets less angsty as it goes on, building to a perfect happy ending. No matter how many times I read this story, I keep coming back to it, because it’s the perfect mixture of sweet, sexy, and satisfying, with a thread of optimism and family feels to bind it all together.

Comments: 9/10. There’s four parts of this story, at different ages in their lives. They meet when they were 8 and the fledgling Cas crashes into their roof. They become friends, and Cas is determined to mate with Dean. Only Dean doesn’t understand angel mating rituals and ends up unknowingly cheating on Cas. So there’s angst. But there’s a happy ending!

My fanfiction ‘Hautley’s Bend’ was stolen, characters named and genders changed, and listed for sale on iTunes as an iBook in 2 parts under the title “Angels & Demons” by someone named Bella Madison. 

In addition, the fanfiction ‘Smiling Out Of Fear’ by thepinupchemist ( @scarlettofletters ) has been stolen and posted on there as well, under the title “Sugar Lane” by Bella Madison. 

Please if you can take a second to signal boost this, it would be much appreciated. It’s possible that other fanworks have been stolen and sold for profit on iTunes by this author, and there’s nothing worse than having your works stolen as an author or artist.
