Your posts shitting on HotD’s writing of misogyny… so real and so eloquently written that I really can’t phrase it any other way besides being unfathomably based
aw thank you so much omg. this was genuinely unexpected and very appreciated. i've spent WAY too long talking about this show and how much i hate its adaptational decisions. but i find i can't stop because very little frustrates me more in media than a self-proclaimed "feminist" narrative that is misogynistic against its own women characters.
the writers' hypocrisy and lack of self-awareness is shocking. they want to teach us a lesson about sexism while perpetuating sexism with their pick-me not-like-other-girls writing. they want to call out the patriarchy while glorifying the patriarchs. they want to discuss sexual abuse but they blame the victims. in fact, i don't think they even realize that they accidentally wrote literally every green character as a victim of rape.
and any time you criticize the show, people will either shut it down with "it's not about teams, it's about supporting your favorite war criminal" or "you're a conservative for not wanting alicent to choke and die immediately." to me the bigger picture is the unconscionable depiction of ethics, policy, and abuse. this show has cw-level narrative functionality pretending to be on par with some of the best writing in the medium, which is frustrating. but more troubling is its incredibly anti-survivor and borderline fascist ideology beneath all the palatable liberal "feminism."
i really wanted to love this show like the vast majority of viewers loved it, but it's just as bad as GoT, if not worse. i'm glad i started posting about the gaping holes in the characterization and themes, because i really felt alone before i found a healthy minority of people on here who agree.
