Princess Anne was given the title of ‘Princess Royal’. . ◼ Anne, born 15 August 1950 is the second child & only daughter of Queen Elizabeth II & Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. At the time of her birth, she was third in the line of succession, behind her mother & elder brother Charles. She rose to second after her mother’s accession, but is currently 16th in line. . ◼ Princess Anne is the seventh holder of the title Princess Royal. . ◼ She carries out about 500 royal engagements & public appearances every year. Anne is known for her charitable work, & is patron of over 200 organizations. . ◼ She is also known for equestrian talents; she won two silver medals (1975) & one gold medal (1971) at the European Eventing Championships, & is the first member of the British Royal Family to have competed in the Olympic Games. . ◼ Anne was married to Captain Mark Phillips in 1973; they divorced in 1992. They have two children, Peter & Zara.
