What if Espresso was Alchemist's mentor and teaches her coffee magic but during one of the lessons Alchemist falls in love with him and Espresso notices this and helps her express her love towards him
Well I don’t see him as her mentor but rather a one side partner. To me, Alchemist Cookie is a bit of a non-magic doer, what’s more she’s not into magic, so their first meeting may have some conflicts. Despite having different motives in their research (one is alchemy and magic on the other), they can make a strong bond because their research is based on precise calculations.
The reason why I think that they’re partners is because magic and alchemy are two different categories that both based on high knowledge and skills, and we don’t know which one is better than the other. Espresso would look down on her at first due to her lack of knowledge in magic. Eventually, after some big incident, he noticed her potential and secretly respected her ever since. So in my opinion, Espresso should be the one who has a crush on her first. (I should probably make a fanfic about this but my writing skills isn’t great)
