day 5
I did some journal prompts to gain more clarity and focus for this year and a day.
1. What constitutes as spirituality, or spiritual practice?
Besides the obvious like rituals, spell work, meditation, and research, I think it’s important to recognize that working psychologically on self-growth is also part of this. Doing journal prompts, trying to heal past trauma and possibly starting therapy again...these are all part of spirituality as well. (some would call that shadow work, but I have a different personal association with shadow work).
2. What is the goal of this? Why are you dedicating to a year and a day?
I want to create a habit where I put my spirituality and self-care as a priority. Now while life is calm, I have the opportunity to create this habit so when life gets busy and I have to move and start working more, I will still feel connected.
I’m also doing this to truly explore what styles of spirituality, practice, or ritual suit me best. I’ve gained a lot of knowledge while being a social media manager for a metaphysical shop, and I want to put it into practice to see what works for me.
I would recommend doing these journal prompts even if you’re not doing a year and day. Sometimes cooking breakfast counts as doing something for yourself spiritually. And it’s always good to check in with yourself and ask why spirituality is important to you.
