Utterly fascinated as a relatively new member of dragon age fandom by posts making grand sweeping statements about what The Narrative of the games tries to push because almost without fail i try to remember any instance in which i feel like any particular stance on just about anything is being Forced Upon Me and end up concluding that i have no idea what these posts are talking about. Like maybe it's just because i'm here from star wars which is an extremely moralistic nuance-hating fandom about an extremely moralistic franchise made for 12-year-olds but like. That post about Weird Out-Of-Character Centrist Rants? No idea what that's referencing. Granted i've only finished vanilla inquisition, 2 1/2 acts of ii, and recruited three factions in origins but i just. Don't know what that post is talking about. I don't perceive "multiple characters from various backgrounds with a wide range of opinions and views that they'll talk about sometimes" to be centrism, i perceive it to be nuance. I don't feel pressured by The Narrative to think One Specific Thing because i am provided in-game with a wealth of information and viewpoints and some of them are presented eloquently and some of them are presented clumsily and i understand literally all of it to be from unreliable narrators. I feel like that taylor tomlinson joke about porn: "i don't think you [played dragon age], i think you watched star wars."
