If this had been arranged in Konoha, Ino would have been thrilled to host a dinner party. Even bossed the boys about to put tables and chairs out on the lawn, so that they could eat dinner under the evening stars. However, this was not Konoha. She hadn't seen Konoha in over five years. This was a completely new country and a new house, which had its own drawbacks. Ino had steadily become badly tempered when she couldn't find the right equipment to make the scrumptious feast she had planned.
Itachi was infuriatingly calm throughout the entire process- did he not realise his mother would be here?! Her mother-in-law? Why wasn’t he panicking as much as she was? Well, it'd be easy for him. Ino knew it would be her that'd be under the microscopic scrutiny of not one, but two Uchiha. Thank goodness Yoshino would also be present.
When the food was prepared, Ino relaxed a bit more and apologised to Itachi for her foul temper. She even went upstairs to dress up whilst the chicken roasted in the oven and came back down looking quite pretty in one of the blue dresses he had bought her.
The guests arrived and were welcomed into their home, shown around by Itachi whilst Ino set the table and then served dinner. When the plates were cleared away and dessert was set, it was then that Ino decided it best to break the 'news' that they wanted to share with all those present. She took a hold of Itachi's hand and nodded at him, silently letting him know that now was the time.
"Well, there was also another reason to gather you all here today," Ino began over the chatter, finding the pause in conversation and hoping her face did not betray the nervousness she felt drumming inside her chest.
"Itachi and I... we have something to share with you all," Ino carefully avoided looking at Sasuke- she had estimated that he would take it the worst- and instead focused on the two older women present in the room.
This would be so much more embarrassing with Shikamaru present. She didn’t know why, but it would be. Ino was infinitely glad that she had informed him of her situation privately before this dinner.
"We will be expecting an addition to our family soon. We don’t know if its a boy or a girl... but we do know that... I’m due in June."
