At first glance, Thersilochus appears foolish, loud, and unserious — the kind of man who laughs too much, jokes at the wrong time, and never quite knows when to stop. But this is not ignorance. It is strategy born from inadequacy.

Thersilochus knows exactly how he is perceived.

And he leans into it.

The rooster is a paradoxical animal:

• Loud, colorful, attention-seeking.

• Often mistaken for brave, yet rarely the strongest in the yard.

• Crowing not to fight, but to be noticed.

Like the rooster, Thersilochus compensates with noise what he lacks in prestige.

Thersilochus is the second-born child, but emotionally he was never allowed to be one.

The Elder Sister

The firstborn of the family — his sister — was married off extremely young, as was expected of women at the time. From that moment on, she ceased being simply a sister and became:

• A substitute mother to her younger siblings.
