Any tips on getting followers on here and getting people interested in your work and characters? :D

Honestly I have no idea. It’s not something I set out to do intentionally. It just so happened I had a few posts go viral, which exposed my writing to more people and for whatever reason they chose to stay and support me. I’ve been told it’s because I am funny and kind to people, which I suppose if you’re going to be known for something, there are worse epithets to have.

I will say I’ve been writing online for a very long time. I’ve always kept a journal (cheaper than therapy) and people have always seemed to find me vaguely entertaining in a “what even is your life” sort of way. There are some people following this blog who have been following me all over social media for the last 15 years watching this train wreck unfold. Which is a very long time to watch someone shit post into the void about their life and all the other random things that pop into their head and yet they’re still here. For the most part it’s been a quiet online life, and it’s only been in the last year or so that things have gotten weirdly out of my control and I am utterly genuine when I say I feel like I’ve been tricked into being productive with my words and to actually do something about them. Otherwise I fully suspect it would just be me tapping away at my keyboard between a few friends and never actually doing anything.

That people have encouraged me and I’ve wound up at the point of having a finished manuscript and pre-orders for something I have written, still doesn’t seem real to me. I keep expecting to wake up. No one is more surprised by any of this than me.

So, uh…keep your head down and just keep writing and try to engage with people? I don’t know…try and get some of your work stolen by buzzfeed? That seems to be the hallmark of success on here.

What tool do you mainly color with? Is it a marker, pen, watercolor, or something else? I want to get better at drawing and I can sketch all my characters but it's such a pain for me to try coloring, because my colors always look plain and out of place with my sketch! :D I really love your art by the way!

Thanks :) I use this brush to colour. Generally it all depends on what brush I use to draw lines, I use softer brushes with sketchy lines and more solid brushes (defined edges) with inky, clean lineart

Hi! I was wondering: what tool do you use to shade your pictures with? Because I can sketch my characters and do the lineart, but my flat coloring does not fit with the style I'm going for: I literally have no idea how to shade! Any tips? (Also I love love love your art!!!!)

it depends on if I want to use hard or soft cell shading. For the Modern Male Witch pieces for instance, I use this Clip Studio Paint brush for almost the entire thing:

I don’t remember what the original settings of the Turnip Pen are because I tweaked it so much, but I really like it. I use it for all my comics and comic-esque art. Both for lining and shading!

For pieces with soft cell shading like this one:

I use the marker tool in SAI with these settings:

I absolutely love the marker tool and I use it wayyyy too much :P It takes some getting used to, but I think it works amazingly with blending and highlights <3

Checking out tutorials on shading and figuring out light sources also helps tons! I hope you can figure out a style that works for you!

Congratulations that's honestly such an accomplishment and I'm so happy for you (the manuscript is so fun by the way!!!! At least for me when I wrote mine!!!!)

Thank you so much!! Ah, mine took like. Over a year to do but overall it was a lot of fun! Learned a lot writing it too... I am excited to start my next draft in a month or so ^^
