Mariella was the child of a storm and her personality showed no fault of this. Always shining in the darkest of moments, but not afraid to lash out when called for.
Being Finnick Odair's younger sister was how most people knew her growing up and that only continued when he became the youngest victor of The Hunger Games. So when Mariella is reaped shortly after him, not only is she convinced she will never see her home or her brother again, but more so that she will never be remembered.
'Odair!’ they chant repeatedly under the blinding lights as I clammer my way upon the stage. Yet they weren't chanting for me, but for my brother. I am not my brother. I will not be their darling. I will not be remembered.
But Mariella does the opposite, she makes it out alive and the whole of Panem have their eyes on this her. She has hundreds of expectations to live up to, but she does not glow with the same pride her brother did, no she is angry and soon enough this anger will bubble over.
Mari is willing to do whatever it takes to protect the people she loves even if it causes her pain. It's her job now to protect her brother, just like he did for her when she was younger. She is angry and she does not care who she upsets, she will not stand to have anymore love ripped from her hands. Not when she has already been so unlucky.

the waves they rife with anger,
as my heart crumbles like tiny speckles of sand.
the course grains slip through my fingers,
as my mind merely disbands.
clicks of light flicker,
i am the remnents of a broken clock.

before dissipating into the rocks.
