"Oh, Frank, I have something simply spectacular planned, you'll see."

"I look ever forwards to it! Or...is it back?"

"It's 'back' because it's the fall, Frank. That's why we get that extra hour."

"Right you are!"

(Later...)

"Well, Sadie, the hour has come and gone and then come again because that's what happens at this time of year, because our government hates us and wishes always to keep us in the dark. What've you got?"

"Why...this bottle of whiskey!"

"Oh, my love! You shouldn't have. Lets open it!"

"That's not all, Frank. I also have this other bottle of whiskey!"

"This night just keeps getting better!"

"And that's not all either! Do be a dear and check in that cupboard for me?"

"...before the whiskey?"

"Oh! Perish the thought."

(Pouring sounds; clink!)

"Okay, here we are..."

(Creaking door...)

"Why Sadie! Is this the very personification of The Present Year who always comes around for some drama around January which we consistently forget about for some reason, who you've drugged and locked in the cupboard such that time will not pass until he comes up?"

"Yes! But oh, oh! DO look behind him."

"ANOTHER BOTTLE OF WHISKEY! Sadie, you are simply the greatest."

"Mmm, I am, aren't I?"

(Later, but also not. There's a knock on the door.)

"Sadie, did you say something?"

"Only that giraffes must be up to something because they shouldn't be able to walk without going wobbly-wobbly-wobbly."

"No, after that. Something about popping and locking?"

"Alas not, Frank. You know that my days as a competitive dance-fighter are long behind me."

(*KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK!*)

"Yes! That right there! It almost sounds like knocking, but it can't possibly be that because time itself is frozen between two moments and also because none of our friends would be so rude as to come calling at one in the morning."

"I'm sorry, Frank, but I'm afraid it IS knocking. I expect it'll be the Time Police, or - as I call them - the Timmy Po-Po."

"Sadie, while that is adorable I'm afraid I MUST question the wisdom of inviting time-law enforcement officers to our home at this not-hour!"

"Frank, I forgive you but only because we're almost out of whiskey and I understand how hard that is for all of us. But they're only here looking for Mr. The Year."

"Yes, I gathered as much."

"Who's been kidnapped, you see."

"Yes, I saw."

"And I've put it about that we’ve been kidnapped and replaced by alien time criminals or something or other for whom alcohol is deadly poisonous."

"Sadie, are you telling me that time cops are banging on our door because you tricked them into bringing us a refill?"

“No, I am telling you...wait yes, it is that exactly.”

"My love, I am sorry I ever doubted you."

"You always are!"

"I always am! But less as time goes on, though at the moment it isn't, and--" 

(KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK! “It’s the Time Police, open up!”)

“Well, I suppose for once and my life that I should get this. Coming!”
